Based on my observations Liberalism hates religion, or specifically Christianity because ardent Christians are not buying anything the Lib church is selling. It's as if the Lefties have discovered an entity impenetrable to the temptations of the Church Of Liberalism, and they do not like it one bit. More of that Saul Alinsky "Rules For Radicals" nonsense - identify, isolate and destroy.

That is not to say there are not God-fearing Liberals, although they seem to be awful quiet about it, or more likely, when they do as our new president does and mentions God and/or Christ, the Lefties don't go ballistic like they did when Bush mentioned a Creator. Odd? When a Conservative mentions God there is trouble, but when Bill Clinton or Obama mention Christ or God, not a peep from the usual suspects. What's that about? Oh, hypocrisy is what that's about.

Forgive me but given the emphasis and instructions on the event being absent of religion, et al I have to believe that Obama found another opening for his campaign. I may be ahead of myself but the look from George Bush led me to believe that he felt Obama was grand standing.

But the whole think will be a "catch 22 for citics and Obama knows that . He can't lose on that move.

What do the atheists and others who support organizations like the Freedom From Religion Foundation, based out of Wisconsin, think about the POTUS quoting scripture and calling upon the name of God during an event of such significance which is seen around the world?

Probably, this is a man who in the past, has refused to to acknowledge the American flag during the National Anthem. There are millions of pictures of him with his hands at his crotch while everybody around him has his or her hand on their heart or giving a military salute.

Remember, this is the same guy who bowed before world leaders and told the world that America was not exceptional. Give no respect-receive no respect.

I started this thread and it was obviously not aimed at the President if you could just read.

It was aimed at folks like you who come to this forum and mock people that you dont agree with politically...their faith, their families and whatever strikes your hate at that moment.

I do not expect you to ever criticize your hate or others as long as they agree with you, but this thread was about folks like you who find folks beliefs to be of some humor if they do not coincide with yours. If Christine O'Donnell had said these things anywhere you would be all over her....if Palin said it, there would be some criticism, yet someone you adore and fawn over it is just fine.

I compliment our President for his remarks. I condemn strongly those who find it necessary to mock folks on here who have strong beliefs..and who have no fear of professing them. You can disagree, but you have no right to make fun of them in anyway.

If you want links to things said on here to validate my thread..let me know....will get them for you, but I think you know who you are that do that.

There is a time and a place for everything. Obama and Bush did exactly what they should have been doing. I saw some footage of Bush in PA and the verbal gaffes he was so known for were certainly gone and I found his remarks inspiring.

It is naive of you to believe that with his low approval ratings Obama would not stump to citing Psalms to gain a favorable impression. This guy is audacious and I consider that comment to be my kindest. it was pure and simple a photo op to be used during the campaign

Unfortunately Obama has earned we the people's skepticism of his sincerity. He has proven time and time again born out by his past political record, there is little or nothing he does or says without a personal political gain intention. I am among the many who believe that (right or wrong).

Amazing that the uber-conservatives will stop at nothing to discredit our President. No matter what he does or says, they will find some way to make it the wrong thing.

All I can do is to say that they had better get used to 4 more years of this President. Get used to the fact that the rest of the country is not thinking the same uber-conservative mindset.

Over 90% of African-Americans will vote for Obama, most Hispanics will vote for Obama, most people under 40 will vote for Obama, most seniors will vote for Obama (they hear Social Security-Ponzi crap and are scared it will go away), most registered Democrats will vote Obama.

There is not a whole lot left to vote Republican. Add in the fact that any right-wing extremist will drive most moderate Republicans over to the Democrat side or just not vote at all - you have another Obama victory.

I think everyone missed the point. Obama's speech was more like being in church where God and prayer should be highlighted. I see the comments that are misunderstood by the right about using God to impress or elevate your position. The lefts point, in my opinion, is they are very concerned by folks that act as if they have a personal red line to God and will give him a call to verify their take on Government decisions is the right one, then come back with a grin on their face like Jimmy Durante for action. If you use a Bible, a crystal ball or even a wigi board to help you make a decision for our country, you have to be a little weird. Yes, I understand that is exactly what the Muslims do, but I do not want to see that done in this country. Jim Jones, David Koresh, Pat Robertson, Matthew Hale and many other nut balls like these are American. Do we need one of these in the white house. I see it as small step from these guys and some of our fellow conservatives. In 2011, we should be past the caveman mentality where we all fear the next cave because we have a different God to tell us what to do and who to kill.
