Returned to TV a couple of days ago. I've singlehandedly eliminated all the lovebugs in Florida. They're all stuck to the front of my car!!...looks like the van's wearing a fur coat!!

If you don't have time to wash your car, carry some Bounce dryer sheets with you. Wet 'em and wipe the lovebugs off. Works like a charm!

And, Phil, it's only in your dreams that you rid of them of all. Sorry!!!

Gotta try that, I was scrubbing like crazy the other day. When is the season over?

LOL...that must have been a sight! Thank you so much for your valiant efforts....alas, a few must have survived the trip...the little beasts are hanging around my house.
Want to drive over and pick them up... ;)

I keep a spray bottle of Wipe & Shine Fast Detailer in my vehicle with a roll of paper towels. You can get it at Kmart. (could not find it in WalMart)

The love bugs seem to love the golf cart tunnels. The only reason I can figure is they are attracted to the fumes from the gas carts. Another reason to go electric!

You're right!...I must have missed a few and they're doing what they do best! Must be the next generation swarming now!
I put an extra coat of polish on before we came down...it helped and...
I tried the softener sheets...they do a good job.

Yep, I'm convinced that love bugs are attracted to exhaust fumes. While I was using the leaf blower to blow the bugs and grit from my front porch the love bugs swarmed me. The fumes from the leaf blower were trapped under the overhang and the LB's were all over the place. That explains why they seem to hang out by the cart tunnels.

George,

That film clip I was telling you about said this was true. They LOVE the gas fumes. I haven't seen them yet as I'm not in TV, but I'm sure I'm not looking forward to it!

On Saturday three of us went to the craft show that was held in small tents out in front of Colony Plaza. It was HOT and it was HUMID and there were three trillion people there and 47 BILLION love bugs. The little B--------'s seem to be attracted to some of the vendors selling things that smelled nice. So odors must attract them. It was awful.

It was a singularly BAD time. I can't remember such a bad experience since the hogs ate Uncle Billy.

The little buggers were all over the place!...When's it gonna end!I can't tell you when they're going to end, but I do know that the residents of Hadley are out in full force swinging nets to capture all the little buggers. They're planning on bringing them over to the Village of Duval and releasing them all over there!

Skyguy, as someone I know and love would say, you ain't right!:agree: That's funny, my doctor keeps telling me the same thing! :loco:

Anyway, in thinking it over I realized that perhaps I shouldn't have spilled the beans. Now all the TOTVers that read it are now going to get their villages together to do the same... and dump them in Hadley! :22yikes:

Bill :wave:Getting back to the original topic and before Bill-n-Brillo fills my master bedroom with popcorn up to my knees, there is a good article that states that love bugs "emerge in the spring and fall (usually May and September), although this can vary by a few weeks earlier or later. The total "season" lasts 3-5 weeks." The web address is:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g28930-c73116/Florida:United-States:Love.Bugs.html

How long has it been so far since they started this time?

The love bugs must snooze at night. We left early early early this past Saturday a.m. for the drive back to OH and encountered none at all while on the road!

Bill :)

Um...well, do you think they "disingage" and smoke cigarettes before sleeping?
