View Full Version : Obama: My bill will create 1.9 million jobs

President Obama has attached a big number to his jobs bill: 1.9 million. At a private fundraiser last night, Obama said his proposal would create 1.9 millions jobs, while reducing the 9.1% unemployment rate by a percentage point; he also said it would add two percentage points to the Gross Domestic Product. Assuming it's passed by Congress, that is.
Even if we believe every word he says (ha),
$450 billion divided by 1.9 million is $236000/job.
Does no one at USA today (or anywhere else for that matter) have a calculator?

I know, I would like one of those jobs myself. What is wrong with the American public that they cannot add and subtract. This administration has thrown trillions of dollars out the window to buy votes. 2012 will hopefully be the start of a new era. Hopefully the electorates have not been dumbed down to the point of not understanding the dire condition we are presently in.
We need to vote this regime out. Vote republican in 2012. Your grandchildren will thank you.

I think the President plan is to spend $236,000 dollars to get you a job that pays maybe a 1/10 of that.
But, if I'm wrong, let me know where I can sign up also.

That's what they cost, not what they pay.

Exactly, $ 236,000 dollars for a job that may pay $30,000. That is 8x times the job. Where does the money go?

I remember a ways back when the Hot Lunch Program started started. The announcer stated that there was 6 Billion dollars for the program to feed 1 million children. I think that we should have just given each child in the program a million dollars and saved the rest of the money for something useful, like more pay for teachers.

They say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. If that is the case then they should throw a net over Obama.:jester:

Umm.. Does it say how long that's for?
If it's $236,000 for a job that lasts 15 years (like being a construction worker on the Bog Dig, although those jobs paid a LOT more than that), that's not good pay. If it's for a job that lasts 3 year, well, that's pretty good pay.
