Now approaching an end, I think.

But he’s right about this: “As the bad economic news continues to emanate from the United States — with a double-dip recession now all but certain — a reckoning is overdue. American journalism will have to look back at the period starting with Barrack Obama’s rise, his assumption of the presidency and his conduct in it to the present, and ask itself how it came to cast aside so many of its vital functions. In the main, the establishment American media abandoned its critical faculties during the Obama campaign — and it hasn’t reclaimed them since. . . . As a result, the press gave the great American republic an untried, unknown and, it is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, incompetent figure as President. . . . To the degree the press neglected its function as watchdog and turned cupbearer to a styrofoam demigod, it is a partner in the flaws and failures of what is turning out to be one of the most miserable performances in the modern history of the American presidency.”

As with John Edwards, though, they’ll pretend they had nothing to do with it.

They'll never admit it to themselves that it actually happened like that. Even Hillary who was amazingly thrown under the bus by the media, accepted a subservient role in his service.

Interesting take on the media and the Obama rise to prominence.

You're ready to take your lumps, I imagine?

Obama's lack of leadership demonstrated by his most recent priority....the jobs bill...the speech was nothing more than the orator back in campaign mode with his push for do it now.....right now...and what has happened since that rah-rah night? Read below:

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2011/09/obama-jobs-speech-right-now-dick-durbin.html

As I have stated many times before he is not a leader....has no idea what a leader does or how it is done...and as said previously I truly believe he believes he has addressed the problem by talking about it. One only needs to compare promises made in his speeches from 2007 through today...list what was promised....then measure what has been implemented/fixed/accomplished since the speech. Almost qualifies for an absolute nothing. The things that have happened that would have happened if a block of wood were POTUS, don't count....all ships rise when the level of the lake goes up (politicians will tell you how they did it:yuck:)

This from the link posted by btk-
"Good thing the president's own Democratic party controls the Senate. Because, otherwise, there might be some kind of silly, unnecessary delays in deliberating Obama's urgent jobs bill that he says will surely help the nation's unemployed millions if only those Republicans don't connive to slow things down."
:1rotfl: well said! We need to get this reporter on TOTV!

Jobs Bill????

They can't even pass the 2012 budget that is due Oct 1, 2011!

btw, NOT the Republicans that are holding things up. It's the Senate, and in particular, Harry Reid.

There won't even be a jobs bill to vote on until maybe next month. First, The President needs to take another "well earned" vacation. Then he can get back to the jobs bill that Congress must pass RIGHT AWAY!!!

and I await with baited breath the details to follow showing exactly where the money goes....dollar for dollar....and of course a monthly report tallying exactly where and how many new jobs (new hires off the street) each as a direct result of spending those monies. Not just a report of employment growth....but growth that happens as a direct result of the proposed dollars to be spent.

Sounds too business like and way too much like accountability. A very foreign concept in the world of politics and political rhetoric and political promises (R or D).

Obama's job plan is flawed for so many reasons. His plan to tax the wealthy has been found to have been instituted in 1965 and reuslted inwhat is now known as the Alternative Minimum Tax.

In general Obama's tactics have been to present "Sophie Choice" type proposals and then complain that Republicans are intentionally throw a wrench in the machinery of progress
