I just finished listening to the speech and I gotta say I was impressed with his approach. I say what he is suggesting will work. Maybe not the best fix for the wealthy, but for those of us that live on a moderate budget, he is on the right track. I am going to wait for Boehner's response.

Where is the money for this approach going to be coming from?

Where's the money coming from???? If you make more than $1,000,000 annually, then you are going to lose your TEMPORARY tax break that is scheduled to expire...Along with your bedfellows, (greedy corporations), that have been scamming this country far too long...then moving their ill gotten gains overseas so they don't have to pay any taxes at all..DISGUSTING

China, printing machines it sure will not be coming from payroll deductions since we are losing more jobs every day because of all the burdens this administration is anchoring on small business. The sooner we get Mr. Zero out, the faster the recovery. NOBAMA 2012. :pepper2:

You're losing jobs because the uber rich and their corp lackeys are making hand over fist profits by enjoying the fruits of slave labor overseas...No min wage, no benefits, no invironmental concerns at all...Buy them their yauchts and hope they trickle down on you...

Business is still puzzled by Obamacare. They feel it a threat because they don't know what it is going to cost. Once Obama is voted out and Obumacare is repealed by a new republican Congress, jobs will miraculously start to ballon. You will see. VOTE NOBAMA 2012. :pepper2:

vg...so you say the corporations are holding the economy hostage because they are "uncertain" about the pending medical law...Give me a Break...that is more hogwash and you know it..They are holding this country hostage because the can...And the goal is simple...Give them more . They are parasites on this economy, partially because of the supreme court's stupid ruling regarding their campaign "rights", and their ability, now even more, to buy career politicians)..Of course they hedge their bets, by contributing to both sides..They know the Republicans/tea party radicals are much more friendly to their corp theft though.....Please

just look at the people Obama surrounds himself with. Immelt GE' CEO reports directly to Obama heading up the "jobs committee".
Since in the position Immelt has approved moving the medical systems operation to China....now where are the new jobs in that move Jeff?
In 2010 GE did not pay one dollar in income tax.
Another example that what goes on in Washington and the espoused intents are just that.....words of intent....WORDS.....the deeds as in the GE example speak much louder....and on Obama's part the lack of any deeds being accomplished speak louder than the words.
But they all smile and pose for pictures as they wave their titles and keep talking of their intents.....as if it meant something.
Disgusting examples of lack of leadership and setting an example.

"U.S. can't 'cut our way out' of budget crisis"...! Huh? Whenever our family has experienced a budget crisis, cutting was our only way out! Come on now, let's deal with reality Mr. Obama. How dumb does he think we Middle Class citizens are?

No, but do you know where I can get one of the bumper stickers? I usually don't put stickers on my car, but I think it is time to make an exception!

Actually, I have no bumper stickers because my vehicle is rather new. But I'm in the market for one of those magnetic stickers that don't scratch your paint when you remove it. You can also take it off easy so when you park your car and go to a store or restaurant, you do not have to worry about some dirty destructive liberal keying your vehicle.;)
How about this one "Socialism is trickle-up poverty"

Guaranteed you don't have an "I voted for Obama" bumper sticker.
By the way, nobody has answered my question as to how POTUS became a millionaire before he was elected.
How is it that congress did not give up their COLA while those of us on Social Security have received NOTHING though we are the ones with fixed incomes and must buy food, clothing, etc. BHO didn't cut back on his or his wife's clothes, food, or VACATIONS. She screams for healthy food while he eats burgers and fries.

:1rotfl: Great! Get me two magnetic stickers. One that says "Socialism is trickle-up poverty" and one that says "DO AS I SAY, NOT WHAT I DO". How's that for supporting the POTUS!

I see nothing creditable here that disputes the fact that Obama gave a good solution based speech. I want the budget fixed and he says he will do that if the republicans get out of the way. Whats not to believe. I think he sounded very sincere and I for one am ready to give him a chance. Boehner has not came up with any ideas. Let him have it. If it does not work, 2012 will have a Republican voted in. If it does work, the country is back on the right track. How can you see it as anything but a win win. We are 14 trillion down now, so 500 billion more will not be a big change. It is worth the risk to either fix the economy or get a Republican in office to try a different road. If you can't agree with that then just keep arguing until the next election and do nothing but complain about the Muslim in office.

Whatever~ Here's what I have come up with from Snopes so far regarding the Potus and his money. It says that he and the missus could afford the home in Chicago due to his best selling books that came out in August 2005...However, they bought the 1.6 million home in June of 2005. Does Snopes think we is dumb too? I too would love to know how he became a millionare prior to being elected president.

:police: Wow mister policeman, if you did your job and went back through these posts, you will see that your compadre DaleMN was the one who steered us away.
But getting back on the subject, Obama is talking old worn out political baloney, tax and spend and redistribution of wealth. As old as when the Pilgrims tried it back in the 1600's.

I think this plan is dead on arrival, and I think the President knows it. This is just a political strategy to position the people to see the Republicans as defending the wealthy.
Part of this plan calls for cutting military retirement benefits and pay. Way to appreciate the people in uniform.
Equating payroll taxes with capital gains taxes is politically expedient but misleading. Why doesn't he try saying what he means.
I guess we just have to wait to see what the Republican controlled Congress says, but it's not a sure thing the Democrat Senate would vote for this.
(When I first saw this thread, the thing that came to my mind was "1600 Pennsylvania Ave")

I heard she was placed there for the money and she was unqualified for the position. Sort of a high positioned affirmative action sort of thing. Hey, don't throw rocks at me, I didn't invent the policy.

Great post and points to consider. Why some have to turn every tread into an I hate Obama post is so childish. He is in the WH so get over it already. Thanks for adding focus to the thread Richie. I also wait to see what Boehner counters with and I hope its not simply an Obama slam. We have so many adult problems and so many mindless and needless comments that add nothing to the discussions. He made a bundle on books that weren't published until August 2005. Bought the home for 1.6million in June 2005. What is he clairvoyant too?:undecided: Or did you just assume that the books money came in prior to buying the home...

The G'Nopers will once again circle their covered wagons and vote Nope on absolutely everything that this President sends to them. No matter what is best for the American people, if this President sends it to Congress, the G'Nopers will find some way to ballyhoo it and then blame President Obama for not passing what he wanted to in the first place.
Actually, Richie was right in his first glance of this posting thread. 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the address of President Obama - and will stay his address until 2016.

You're getting lazy Buggy. Your comments are a rehash from so many of your past posts. Do you just click "copy" and "paste" and post the same thing over and over?
It's doesn't matter to me, really. I'll just let you go back to sleep now so you can continue your wonderful dream.

I think it is tired old stuff that has not and will not work. This president is a miserable failure and he is desperate. The time for him to think about jobs was 2 1/2 years ago instead of wasting precious time with health care and his other agenda's. Priorities, put the people back to work then do healthcare. Unfortunately for the American people and his re-election campaign, he did everything in the wrong order. But when you have the Messiah Complex, you feel that everything you do is right.

If Boehner does not come back with a yes or a better solution, then I will have to agree with you. I am sick and tired of them all. Republicans are cutting their own throats and at the expense of the American people. We all suffer because these Congressional idiots cant learn to play together.

Another thing we will never agree on, so let's agree to disagree. I could write pages about the stupid and inept things W did, both before and during his presidency. But, that would not change anyone's minds, so why bother. Washington is so contenious these days I am not surprised nothing is getting done. The repubs and especially the tea party folks are much more interested in stalling things and making their point and don't give a darn about the electorate. The whole Washington scene right now reminds me of little boys who will take their balls and go home if they don't get what they want. To hell with the team (US). And when a repub is elected, the dems will do the same thing to them. It kind of looks unending to me right now.

You can believe whatever you want about President Bush. You dislike him about as much as I dislike President Obama. That's fine.
But the left's obsession with rewriting history concerning his election is absurdity at it's highest level. The court challenge to change the election results were initiated by the Gore Team. It failed, despite their attempts to cherry pick the districts to be recounted. The Supreme Court agreed with the Florida courts that the count was in Pres. Bush's favor and that the Florida Attorney General's certification of the election was valid and legal as per the laws of the state of Florida.
After the election and court challenges were concluded, all the liberal media from the NY Times to CNN sent teams to Florida to count these votes anyway under careful watch of election officials. Bush won time and time again and the matter quietly went away except in the minds of the avowed haters of all things Bush.

Ahhh ritchie...Not the way I remember it...The election commission folks in dade county were literally attacked in their office by a large group of GOP lawyers and professional troublemakers screaming "let me in". the commission could not conduct their job...Now guess what happened, the largest electorate in Fl was not recounted...Good job anarchists...BTW we won the popular vote too but of course that doesn't count in Bush World..He is absolutely the reason we are in this mess and the spoiled rotten kids of his generation that lost, are what's feeding the current Dysfunctional congress...Gonna be a fun election and one helluva fight I imagine.

:BigApplause: Good point. Why do we bother? Maybe they just can't handle the truth...I don't think they know how to think for themselves. It doesn't appear that they can remain focused on the original discussion. Instead they move the target as the discussion gets closer to the bulls eye. Then they act exasperated and imply that the other person doesn't know what is going on. Do they think we are that stupid to be lost by their antics?
