It doesn't matter which way you lean politically, it is something to have a national news show broadcast from your home town. it was a thrill to see my fellow villagers on TV.

I was at our rental, getting ready to move into our Lily Pad day after tomorrow.

I wonder what you thought, those who went...and pictures please.

And did any of us TOTV'rs get their face in any TV shots???

I went down for a little while to see Foreigner but was disappointed. They sang for about a minute with the VHS chorus backing them up. Not even a full song! I was standing behind the alligator pit so I saw them "wrestle" the gator. Have to give Gretchen props for getting down on her knees to look the gator in the eyes. It wasn't very crowded...I've seen bigger crowds when Rocky and The Rollers perform!

I wasn't there, but watched on TV. They talked about The Villages but I didn't see much. The show wasn't about The Villages, it was ALL ABOUT THEM. I fast forwarded thru most of the program, really thought it wasn't worth watching. It would have been better if they did have Rocky and the Rollers.

I watched only because a couple of my friends went and I wanted to see if they got on TV. Unfortunately, did not catch any of them. I did think the alligator segment was kind of funny and it was nice seeing the local kids perform. Of course, as soon as the political talk started, all I heard was blah blah blah...kind of like the adults sound in the Peanuts specials.

I did manage to go to the event before leaving "Lower Paradise" this aft. I found it to be a very nice event. It was extremely well organized and it was fun to be there.

I managed to catch Brian Kilmeade and I told him I listen to his podcasts on my waterproof iPod while swimming that half mile every day. (after I listen to The Today Show podcast...shhh). He was impressed and someone took a photo of the two of us.

I watched the gator wrestlers....even saw the albino gator up close and personal.

I saw Oliver North who was eagerly signing his book if one wanted to buy it.

They served a wonderful free breakfast. For me, it was a very positive experience and I met some very nice friendly folks.

I took quite a few photos....but just like then other day at Crispers, I can't figure out how to post them.

After the show, I picked up my luggage and waited for the shuttle to take me to the airport. I was so happy to sit next to a delightful lady....who is Leenie24 on TOTV....and her sister is Duffysmom. What a pleasant surprise!

I have to agree...it didn't take long before all the political rhetoric started. Hope someday both parties can get together and work for we the people. Loved seeing the "kids" perform and seeing our beautiful community with all the happy Villagers in the background! There's no place like home!

ok..I have to be honest here...I love seeing The Villages on tv but deep inside, I have this selfish fear that if too many people find out about it, I won't have any place to move to..it will fill up!! I know, unrealistic and silly but...........

Well, being a Wannabe and a Senior Citizen, I sometimes have trouble remembering who's actually all ready there and who isn't. Having said that I will say that I never watch this show but I watched it in its entirety this morning because I was hoping to get a glimpse of all of your mugs.

A very pretty woman named Trish was selected out of the audience to sample Hurricane Grill's? Cafe's? fish tacos and I said to myself, "That's our TOTV Trish"!

Well, you had 30 seconds of fame in my eyes!

I was there and thought it was great fun ! Foreigner did many little 30 second songs as warm up , but then did a nice medley and also stayed after the show and did one or two more songs. The whole thing is a very complicated thing to do outside, lots and lots of cables, cameras, waiting around for a short segment etc... Brian, Steve and Gretchen came out amongst the crowd and were very friendly. All the staff people were friendly, polite and excellent at their jobs. Hurricane Grille had a very nice free breakfast buffet set up. I'm tired now and want to go to bed!

I thought the whole experience was wonderful. I recorded it and have been watching bits and pieces during the day. We are lucky people here. And it is great that, except a couple of posts, we can leave the political out of this thread.

Gracie - Did you find our 8 eyed 8 legged friend yet?

Saw Fox & Friends on the tube this morning from up north. Showed TV in a good light I think.

Did you notice the booing the crowd did when the ONE left wing guest was speaking? That was very welcoming....

I watched most of it on television, fast forwarding through some of the segments. It was wonderful to see the kids from the high school perform... such smiling faces.
Having been involved with the military for over 20 years, it was nice to see many military watching, also. Many who live here have spent years in the military and recognize the effort and sacrifice all make, military members as well as their families. The smiling faces of residents were sure to let all know just how happy people living here, are.

It's always nice to see your hometown on national television...and not have a disaster causing the appearance. This wasn't a political rally, it was a network, celebrating their 15th year on the air, and the Villages was part of that celebration.

Lest any of you think I'm a Fox groupie, do know that I'm not, but I am a proud Villager and was thrilled to see our hometown, shining!

Twice you have tried to steer this political. Please, it was a nice time and a nice experience, give it a break, please. This is general discussion? : )

Thanks for posting - I'm not a resident...just a wannabe so I wasn't aware that there was a military base close by. Are these soldiers, by any chance, from Central Command?

It was absolutely pouring rain before the show started. That's why we didn't go and I'm sure others were the same.

Just like what we hear as soon as Today and GMA start in with their obvious political bent. But all three of these shows have segments that are "americana", and interesting.

Can't say that I did. Fast forwarded as I was only interested in seeing our lovely community on TV (and hopefully seeing someone I recognized) :) because I am not down there yet! I so miss TV...there truly is NO PLACE LIKE HOME...maybe if I click my heals...I think I already packed my ruby slippers!

Another wannabee who watched some of Fox and Friends yesterday before having to leave for work :(. I was also wondering about the soldiers -- what base where they from? Where is Hurricane Grill & Wings located in or near TV? I enjoyed what I saw of the show.

The Fox news show was about celebrating their 15 year anniversary; so naturally it was mostly about them. I only got to see small snippets of it. I too had to go to work ;(. I was looking for our friends in the crowd...did not see them.

This morning they showed Doocey trying to do line dancing at the Waterfront hotel....very entertaining! I am very glad they showed TV in a positive light. This morning they did give great props to TV for being such a great venue. I think they covered TV more in past shows. Seems like they have said that Doocey or Kilmead's parents live in TV. Does anyone know them?

I DVR'd it hoping to see more of The Villages and was disappointed by the coverage.
Foreigners original lead singer is no longer with the group so their music was disappointing to me; just say'in.

It sounded like it might have been two, three or even as many as a half dozen people at most and I believe that it might have dragged on for more than a second, maybe two during the three hour show!

Hey Swimdawg -

If there's any chance you have photos of Oliver North from Wednesday, could you please let me know. My husband was there and gave him a "Grateful American" challenge coin and shook his hand. Unfortunately, our friend with the camera pushed the wrong button and we have no record of it!

If you need help uploading/downloading photos from your camera, please PM me. I'm sure that between me and my husband we can help get your photos posted.

Thanks!
