Planning to come down to visit my house - we have owned it for 6 years but only get down 4 or 5 times a year. We now have my mother-in-law with us and will probably be bringing her with us. She can take care of herself, but needs constant watching because her short-term memory is pretty much gone. Does anyone know of someone who we could hire to "baby'sit so that we could get out and play some golf while we're there? We have her in day care here on Long Island, but I understand that there is nothing like that available there. Any help, or thoughts, would be greatly appreciated.

I see them advertised on television, but have no actual knowledge of how good they are. I've provided a link to their web page. It might be helpful.

We too are in LI and have been collecting information regarding eldercare in The Villages for when we move down. This is what we have found and saved so far, but havent checked into:
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. It is operated through the Dept. On Aging and the Corperation for National and Community Service. It's been around since 1971.

Prestige Manor in Bellview is an assisted living facility which accepts day care for alzheimers patients. Two days a week for 8-9 hrs/day the cost is very reasonable ($50/day). 352-245-1005.
Advanced Nursing Concepts (205-7418). This seems to be a daily schedule type service.
Good Luck!
