The folks at Chi's must be from Queens. They have sandwiches named Bell Blvd, kissena Park, Frannie Lou's (which I am guessing is named after Francis Lewis Blvd) and others.

They are from Queens! :a040: When my husband & I were there the owner was wearing a Yankee hat and we began talking about NY. They have pictures of NY on the walls.
It is not a fancy place but the food was GREAT! Kind of reminds me of a mom & pop place.
Are you from Queens Brostholder?

Hmmmm! Just wondering why cheesesteaks appeal to so many people! Like Arbys roast beef, the meat inside reminds me of something that has already been chewed! Course, I was born and raised in the South and I guess there's just a difference in what you are used to. Give me a good ole hot dog or BLT anyday.:icon_hungry:

Yes. I grew up in Douglaston and my Dad had a drugstore for many years on Hillside Ave and Springfield Ave in Bell Park (MilMar Drugs)and then later on another store on the corner of Hillside ave and Francis Lewis Blvd (FranHill Drugs). But it has been many years since we lived there. Where are you guys from?

:icon_hungry: Been going to Chi's for about 2 months and everything we had was great to fantastic. A little bit of NY in our Village community. We have become regular customers. Strongly urge all to at least visit and try a new eating experience that won't hurt your wallet. Enjoy.

Different strokes for different folks. Had my one and only cheese steak there and thought it was awful. Judging from the crowds in the place every time I go by it seems like others must agree.

What did you order that was awful? Did you mention it to the owner when he came around asking how your sandwich was?
Every time I am there for lunch/early dinner it is packed.

We went to Chi's this evening for the Cheesesteak. First of all, let me say that we're from Mass. and are Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruin fans, so when then young lady at the counter was wearing a NY cap, that was a check mark against the place. Well, that was the last negative we found there. The sandwich was excellent! The hand cut fries were excellent! Even the pickle was excellent! And as hard as it is to admit, even the 2 Yankee fans working there were nice, friendly people! Don't know how busy it gets, but at 6:30 it wasn't busy. I hope that more people go and try their food, because the word will spread and the place will be packed. And this is from a Boston fan! :icon_hungry::icon_hungry:

I'm with you bigalibaba! I'll bet you, like me, are not from up North and therein might be the problem. I found nothing on the menu that appealed to me. Cheesesteaks and Arby's roast beef sandwiches are like someone has "pre-chewed" the meat. That said, I ordered a BLT on wheat, which was not on the menu but they said they could make me a BLT but it would have to be on white Texas Toast bread which ended up being a big mouthfull of white carbs that I am trying to cut back on. In my opinon, every sandwich place should have wheat bread as a choice. I haven't willingly eaten white bread in years!
I am glad to hear that so many do enjoy Chis and I wish the best for the new business.
I'll just have to keep going to Cracker Barrel for my corn bread and collards!

I agree frank! I have been going for 2 months & I love the place! The cheese steaks are huge! I always need a nap after! The quality of the meat is by far the best in Florida! I am actually going to head there now for breakfast! Bacon, egg & cheese on a kaiser roll! Mmmmm
The young lady with the Yankee hat is actually the owner! The guy responsible for this great food is her husband (he was the exec chef for the Bucs stadium in Tampa before talking his wife into opening Chi's)
:clap2::MOJE_whot:Mr. Mac9 and I went to Chi's for dinner. Having lived in South Jersey for many years and worked in Philly, we think Tony Luke's is the best (Gino's and Pat's are for the tourists). This place give South Philly a run for its money with their steaks. They are tender, moist, flavorful, HUGE, and on an Amoroso roll (the only real Italian steak roll). I would highly recommend them.

We had dinner tonight at Chi's and we thought it was GREAT!!!!!! Truly enjoyed the cheese steak and the FF's. 2 excellent sandwiches, one order of fresh cut Fries and 2 drinks, $15.50. We definetly will be returning. I do hope the residents of TV support this business and keep them going. Give them a try.

After reading all the posts about the wonderful food that Chi's has, I couldn't wait to dig in. Went after work yesterday and ordered 2 supers with Cheesewiz and onions. What a feast. Pure heaven.
Chef Robert used to be the Ex Chef for Tampa Bay Bucs, as another poster stated but he also prepared and supervised the feeding of 65,000 plus hungry football fans. Bless him.
The fries also looked so good. I'm ordering them next time i go, which will be very soon!!!!

So much positive written about Chi's ....we LOVE the philly cheese. I truly hope the residents here in TV as well as surrounding towns support this business. It really would be a sad thing to loose this GREAT eatery! So if you haven't been there yet you don't know what you're missing...give em a try!

All this talk of great cheese-steaks has peaked my curiosity. I will now have to make a trip to Chi's to see what the fuss is about. We've always been partial to Gandolfo's (best we've found so far) here in the villages for their sandwiches but it seems like we have some place else to look into. I'm always up for something good and cheesey. And being from NJ, it's hard to find good cheese-steaks. :icon_hungry:

I am bumping this thread because I ate at Chi's for the first time today and had a cheese steak that was soooo good! I had mine with mushrooms, onions and provolone cheese. It came with seasoned hand cut fries that were also great. I highly recommend them.
