Hello everyone, this is my first post so I hope I'm doing this right. Gloria and I are very excited yet nervous about our first visit to TV. We will be down there for 4 nights starting Oct.3 thru Oct 7. This is a big step for us as I'm sure it was for everyone although we still have about 2 1/2 years until we retire. Is the Lifestyle Preview a one time only and when we come down again do we have to rent to visit TV? We would appreciate any advice.
Thank you in advance.
Mike

Welcome to TOTV, Mike!!! Hope you enjoy your upcoming stay in TV.
Generally, the Lifestyle Preview is a one-time thing.........though depending on the sales person they'll connect you with, you might be able to come back and do another stay at a later date if they feel you're a strong candidate to buy a new home. At least that's the way it worked with us (we declined the offer for a second stay). Others will be able to relate their own experiences which might differ from ours. And any subsequent Preview visits are usually without any of the "perks" that might have come with your initial stay.
As far as coming back for future stays, yes....you can rent a home either directly from the homeowner or through a rental property management company. Another option to consider if your primary purpose on those subsequent visits is to just look around and get a feel for everything in TV would be to stay at one of the hotels that is connected to TV property and is golf cart accessible. Rent a cart (again, from a variety of sources), park it in the hotel's lot at night, and enjoy! Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Suites are two locations located adjacent to Spanish Springs that fill the bill.
Again, welcome to TOTV - and welcome in advance to TV!!!
Bill :)
p.s. Bring your checkbook! You never know..........you just might end up buying a house! :D

Thank you Bill for giving Gloria and I this information. It's times like this that we really appreciate some guidance.
Turtlediver, thank you for your encouragement. We are actually more excited then nervous and are now counting the days until we arrive at TV.

Mike and Gloria; Nothing to be nervous about. You will fall in love with the Villages lifstyle within the first 24 hours. Enjoy the squares and happy hour if you partake. Golf if you are golfers, I would recommend Palmer and Cane personally. Drive all over in the golf cart provided, and eat at some of the country clubs (Mallory and Cane are our favs), but Lopez and Palmer are also very good. Get ready to be ubber impressed, and bring your checkbook!

Mike and Gloria:
1. I would recommend taking the trolley tour.
2. Going to the squares to dance and listen to music.
3. Go to the neighborhood pools.
4. Talk to the friendly people everywhere. they're all friendly.
5. Buy a map and explore TV via golf cart.
5. Be prepared to fall in love with TV.
6. Bring your checkbook.
Relax and enjoy yourself, there is nothing to be nervous about. :)

Seriously, listen to the above listers and bring your checkbook!! It can happen quickly as it did to us. We took a cool, wet Monday in March last year, went around to some open houses, and Bang!! We had bought a model Villa that night.
Talk about nervous.........

I'll add some emphasis:
Bring your checkbook!
Just be sure your balance can handle a down-payment! Not a good idea to start off your life here in "Paradise" by bouncing checks!

We had a 7 day LSV this past April. We returned to Maryland and listed our home and it sold in one day. We called Tony our salesman and scheduled another LSV in May to look for a home to buy, which he said was no problem. Before heading south we called Tony back and bought a new home off The Villages Website sight-unseen.
We cancelled our LSV and set up closing for July 5th, we wanted sooner but they said with the holiday everybody wanted before the holiday. Since we were leaving our Baltimore home late June we needed a place to stay for about 5 days over the 4th of July weekend. I asked Tony our salesman but he said since we had bought a home he couldn't give us a LSV but did get us the Holiday Inn Motel for $79 a day instead of the normal $95.
Like many others have said, bring your checkbook... :)
They're not kidding, so many have bought a home or lot during their first visit, the community is that attractive and appealing!
Have a great visit, I know it will be better than you can even imagine.

We visited three times loved each and every visit.
The first visit was WOW! shock and awe and this can't be true.
The second visit , OK is this still the community we saw two years before!
Answer- Yes and better!
Three- Get home get house sold !!!!
Then serious lot shopping and consultation with our Sales Rep. Who had no sales pressure yet guidiance and patience from above.
Answer = down payment
Now in October - Lets start the build process meeting with the design team
It just take us a while to process and move on.
Never the less the best part is that you have so many who have done this before you and will help answer your questions.

Hi Mike and Gloria,
Welcome toTOTV! No need to be nervous about your lifestyle visit. There is absolutely no pressure to buy. You will be pleasantly surprised. On the other hand, you'll find it hard not to want to.
If you are in a position to buy now, perhaps you'll decide to take the leap. If you are not, don't worry. No one will make you feel obligated. It's always good to have a plan and dream to work toward. It was several years and several visits after the first before we purchased.
Btw, when you are ready to buy, whether this year or years down the road, if you would consider a resale, be sure to use an MLS Realtor in addition to your TV sale agent, as they do not share listings.
Please relax and enjoy your visit. The list 2BNTV recommended of things to do while you are here is great.
Keep us posted, OK? If you have more questions, just ask.

Mike and Gloria -- I agree with 2BNTV's suggestions. I'm coming back on Oct. 7 for my third visit to TV and I can't wait. Wish I could move to TV tomorrow. Hope your visit is a good one!

Were an example of all the above. Just planned a small trip and boom, we were writing a check!! Seems like there are not many golf course lots so we grabbed one while we could. Now we have to put our house up for sale quicker than we thought and get ready for an april move into Bonifay and Fernandina. Not even sure what our address is??

Hi Mike and Gloria,
There is no need to be nervous here. We actually bought quickly too. The best decision we have ever made. This place is paradise. The friendly people, the food, the lifestyle and endless activities. What a great time in our life to relive our childhood and have some fun after all the hard work we have done its our time now to enjoy our lives. There is no other place on earth I would rather live.

If you are on the golf course near Bonifay, you are probably on Mockingbird.
