Doorbell
Power Line Blog held a prize competition for $100,000 for whoever most effectively and creatively dramatized the significance of the federal debt crisis.
Any creative product was eligible: videos, songs, paintings, screenplays, Power Point presentations, essays, performance art, or anything else.
Several entries have gotten a lot of attention and a lot of views or listens. But unquestionably, the one that has most gone viral so far is “Doorbell”.

:ohdear: After watching this, there are words in my mind to describe our government that I can't post. Shame on the lot of them in DC. :ohdear:

The sad part of all this is that by the time they get to her door, the bill will have gone up considerably. But then again who really cares, for inflation will have made our money worthless.

Brilliant in it's simplicity with it's easy to understand message. A little bit of genius in my opinion.

It would be interesting to see what some of the other top entries were.

Very well made. No partisan demagoguery. Just a simple presentation of universal facts that aren't really open to interpretation. Simple. Effective. Especially with the kick at the end "I wasn't talking to you..."

I particularly like this comment.
No matter who you blame, every person in this country owes almost 50k toward the debt., AND it is increasing RAPIDLY.
HOW are we going to pay it?
WHEN are we going to stop increasing it?
WHO is going to billed for it?
ANSWER:
ALL of us will suffer for DECADES to pay this off. How dare BOTH parties for committing this IMMORAL act upon us.

And yet, the Tea Party gets demonized by the Lamestream Media. This is one of the biggest issues that started the Tea Party movement in the first place.

Your right as rain on this one, its just too bad they attracted so many of the wrong people. They have a great cause if they could weed out the nuts.

Every organization has it's share. Shall I start talking about all the "nuts" who are, or who are supportive of Democrats? Do I need to?

Oh, I forgot to welcome you back. I don't think there are many nuts in the Tea Party, especially the acorn variety.

As much as I don't care for the Tea Party in many respects - i *will* say the best thing they have done is brought attention to the issue of too much Washington spending. I may disagree with some of the proposed solutions, but at least someone finally made some effective headway in getting the issue NOTICED.

Couldn't be more direct than that. The capture of the look on the childs face was in my opinion, the icing on the cake for winning the $100,000.
Pretty direct, quick, and even Rosanne Barr should be able to understand it. Maybe.

Roseanne Barr? The one who wants to decapitate people? No, she is too occupied with executions to understand public debt.
