Question for Jasmine/Wisteria owners

The light in the kitchen nook area is not hung so you could center a table under it. Anyone fix this by moving the light?

We have a Wisteria and our fixture is centered, but it could be that our table is smaller than yours. I remember our builder stating he would center our light fixture if it needed to be moved. No money was ever talked about as it sounded like he would do it as a courtesy. If yours is not a new house I would consider putting a toggle hook in the sheetrock above the center of the table and hooking the chain on the hook to center it. I think this would look O.K. and it would be easier than moving the junction box and matching the sheetrock texture. If the hook does not apeal to you and it is a new house I would call the home warranty office and ask who the builder was and ask him if he would consider moving the light fixture. If not what would he charge to make the correction. The builder could have this done easier than you as the issue would be that it would possible take three different groups to do the work. Electrician, sheetrock and painter. Each group would only need about thirty minutes or less for such a small job. I found the builder and all of the sub contractors very eager to make us happy in our new home. :)

I have lenghtened the chain, put a hook in the ceiling over the table, and swag it.

Had this issue in California. To move the fixture, would have cost several hundred dollars. To get a longer chain and hook, about $15.00 and took me about 15 minutes. The chain and hook worked and actually looked pretty good.

The position of the light in the kitchen is a minimal problem compared to the light in the dining room. I moved both lights rather than put in a swag system. All one has to do is cut a new hole where u want the light to hang from and cover up the old hole which is easy because of the popcorn ceilings. The popcorn hides all of the imperfections of the sheetrock u use to cover the old hole. Go for it.
