A few years back there was a very popular book published called "1000 Places to See Before You Die". For those who love traveling, this was a great book. I've visited quite a few places over the years but where are some of the most exotic or interesting places you have visited or would like to visit? I would like to see Machu Picchu in Peru and perhaps Gaughan's Tahiti and Bora Bora. Ever since reading James Micherner's South Pacific, those islands there intrigued me. I wish I could navigate those ocean going boats visiting those islands. I guess I need to see Pyramids in Egypt but some how, it doesn't seem to be on my agenda. I don't know why.

Yes your right that is a wonderful book. I have so many favorite places but here are a few:

All time favorite was Chitzinitza Maya Ruins in Mexico. It was fascinating to hear how they lived and built those magnificent temples with no modern machinery. I was very brave that day and did climb the stairs to the top of one of the temples. Wow what a view and a feeling of humbleness overcame me.

My second favorite is Mackinac Island near the UP in Michigan. This is where The Grand Hotel is and many movies have been made there. Somewhere in Time being one of them. You are treated like a queen or king if you stay there. The food is fabulous, the hotel decor is unique and after dinner people gather on the long, long porch to sit in huge rocking chairs to take in the water view. There are no cars allowed on the island so transportation is horse carriage's or bicycles. That my favorite part taking the horse drawn carriage through the islands.

Thirdly, I love California, Big Sur, Napa Valley, and San Francisco area are darn hard to beat beauty wise. They have it all, the ocean and mountains. I love it there.

Yes, Machu Picchu and Galapagos Isles are on our bucket list. We have not been to Europe yet so Spain, Italy, Holland, Greece, and Thailand are places we hope to visit when we retire.

Like you, I love to travel, actually I live to travel and always planning a trip somewhere. My husband wants to go Dominican Republic, Santa Domingo and Punta Cana so that is our next trip.

When we retire we are going to get in the car and just drive all over America. East coast to west coast, north, south and we plan to take around 4- 6 weeks to do this. There are plenty of beautiful places here we hope to see too.

We went to Eastern Europe (Budapest, Vienna, Prague) last year and Northern Scotland this year (Edinburgh, Skye, etc.) -- both are must-sees --so much we think we know about these places and so many surprises! One is that eggs taste like they did when we were young --no genetically altered food from the U.S. Is allowed to be imported --and, yes it's true -- the guys wear nothing under their kilts (except at the Highland games when they spin around throwing shotput.
