Gmail to Outlook

Has anyone successfully used IMAP to synch Gmail in Outlook? I have set up my Outlook 2007 client to work with Gmail but noted on the forums that some people have lost some e-mails. I travel with a netbook and would like to keep my e-mails synched with my office computer.

I have only set up gmail with pop, it will work fine on two or more computers using outlook, and setting the mail to remain on the server.

I did it awhile back but ended up just using the web client because of its slowness at the time. Not sure if that is still the case though.
