I have rheumatoid arthritis. I'm about to sign up for Preferred Care Partners only to find that the "one and only" rheumatologist listed on the provider list in TV and Leesburg is no longer around and "they" couldn't tell me where she went. (Dr. Stacey Davis) I have a call into the PCP representative we met with however I thought I'd come here too and ask you folks "IF" you have any suggestions. Anyone here have PCP AND my condition as well??? HELP!!!!!!!!

I have Lupus and was just as disappointed last year when Dr. Davis left. My Rheumatologist is in Ocala, Dr. Miguel Rodriguez and I am very happy with him.
I, too, have Preferred Care.

I'd suggest you go to the Preferred Care Partners office in Lake Sumter and sit down face to face with one of their representatives.

That's what we did and it was much better than trying to get answers from the guy who did the seminar we attended, or calling an 800# for PCP and talking with a rep who is trying to keep all the different plans straight, depending upon what county you're in.

We spoke with Aimee and she was very helpful. Good luck!

JUST did that earlier this week. Was told about Dr. Davis at that appointment. THAT'S why I posted here! Dr. Davis is NO longer in the network. Wanted "wise-counsel" from folks who have the same issue I have and what they're doing for their care. I spoke with Mirta at the PCP office and she too was helpful with everything else. I have a call into her now with this new "wrinkle". They need to update their list!

Thank you ShirleeVee for your comment....that was helpful!! Anyone else have a suggestion??

I never realized that people with RA go to rheumatologists. What does a rheumatologist do? Do they have a cure or just prescribe drugs to help with pain.

Are you just asking...or do you really want to know? I'd say it's a specialist who diagnoses and treats folks with auto immune disease that include rheumatoid arthritis. There are MANY other diseases in this "family". Google it if you want a more diffiniative answer.

JenAjd,

Thanks. I'd be interested to know what most people (with RA) hope to accomplish by going to a rheumatologist. Is it to get medication?
