I have been told two things about the new Bonifay Country Club and Golf Course. Looking to confirm this information.

1. The Bonifay Resurant has been leased and the new owner will take possession next week. Does anyone know who leased it and what is their backgound?

2. The Bonifay golf course will open November 7th.

The names of the owners are listed on the Gourmet club wed site. Male and female from Orlando.

As of today that is the correct opening date.

I heard they will open the rest. 10/29 They have an indoor and an outdoor bar. Don't know who will be running the place. 18 holes soon dont know date, the other 9 in about 2 mo. The other 9 was damaged by a heavy rain storm before the grass was rooted.

Thanks for the information that gave me an area to do a little checking on. The people who The Villages Gourmet Club say will be the owners of Bonifay Resturant are Joe Nisbett and Cindy Kearns of Orlando.

Did some checking on these people and it was interesting who they are. Joe Nisbett is Operating Manager of Acorn Investments which looks to me like it is part of The Villages. Also a Bill Kearns is another Operating Manager of Acorn Investments. My guess is that Cindy Kearns is related to Bill Kearns. So it looks to me like The Villages is operating the new Bonifay Resturant which makes me happy after seeing what happened at our last Country Club Resturant being Havana.

Latest rumor I hear is that the " money man " works for the villages and is hiring people to run Bonafey. Also he wants to take over Havana, Cane Garden, Palmer and the lighthouse. My info comes from someone that should know

Have no idea where you get your information. The developer already controls Cane Garden, Palmer and Lighthouse. He made a major mistake with Havana because the controlling partner brought in George Stella as a smoke-screen. When Havana's lease expires, Kris is gone.

I agree about Havana but the Villages would rather be out of the restaurant business and just collect lease payments. Cane Garden used to be on the lifestyle card for potential home buyers but not any more. Like I said my source is in a position know about these things. Palmer and the Lighthouse were Privately run in the past so it's not unusual for the Villages to try to find a new owner/operator.

Played golf today with a fellow who works at Havana. He informed me that the opening for Bonifay had been pushed back to either 11/21 or 11/27. He said that the course just wasn't ready yet. He did tell me there are some very interesting holes [BIG elevation changes] on the courses.

I heard from a reliable source that the golf shop will open at Bonifay on 11/7. The Sarasota driving range will also open the same day from the other side of the pond, as well as the new golf academy.

Bonifay is south of 466A and west of the new firehouse, next to the Village of Sanibel.


We took a ride over to Bonifay on Sunday and walked around the outside. Great view from the back patio. Interesting design to the bars there. Inside bar goes across the back of the restaurant so that the patrons are looking out at the golf course with an "S" shape to it. The outside patio bar is opposite the inside bar.

John, it'll either need to be Morse or Buena Vista to get into the Sanibel/Bonifay area. Canal St. doesn't extend across 466A.

There is no official way to get from the cart path on the south side of 466a to bonifay without going to morse or BV.

There used to be a way to cut through where they keep the maintenance equipment by the BV tunnel, but I suspect that will be shut off at some point, maybe even already.

South on Morse Blvd to the first roundabout and then take the first right out of the roundabout. Bonifay is off of that road. (Sorry I do not remember the name of that street.) The person at the gate house can then give you directions.

The new library is located on 466A in the new Sumter County Service Center. Or, is there another new library??

Bought 2 maps yesterday at the Mercantile for our guests. South of 466A only shows Buena Vista and the location of Brownwood.....nothing else.

That is the library that I'm referring to. The library does not sit on 466A. The building is on a road (Pinellas Place) that sits back from (is parallel to) 466A.

I hope that makes sense.
