We are very excited to become Villagers. We had a week of goodbyes to family and friends. It was bittersweet. We know we are making the right decision though.

Our plans are to drive down after our settlement in Maryland leaving around 6pm. We hope to make a big dent out of voyage tonight and the rest tomorrow. Our cats are very nervous since we have been staying in our sister in laws home the last couple of nights.

Hope to become acclimated in TV lifestyle ASAP.:posting:

Congratulations. It was a year yesterday that we sold our house and drove down here. Cannot believe the time has gone so fast. You will love it here.

Good luck on the drive. It goes pretty fast.

We're in No Virginia and will be right on your tail - a year from now.

Maxman:

My resident feline, usually referred to as "The Cat," sends greetings to your Cats. May they quickly get over the traumas of traveling long distances in an automobile, being subjected to unfriendly noises (especially big 18-wheelers going by on the Interstate). Be sure they have early access to the lanai where, hopefully, they can enjoy the weather, sights and temptations (anoles, birds) taunting them!

Be sure to check the stability of your lanai screens now and again!

Welcome! :clap2:

Leaving for TV next Thurs. with two vehicles. We ar trying to get one vehicle shipped from Conway NH. and not having any luck finding a transporter. Will drive both vehicles to New Bedford Ma. and leave one there hoping to have better luck at finding a transporter from this more traveled area.

We would also consider letting someone drive the car from either location and we would pay for all fuel charges. If there is someone needing transportation to TV we would also include a cash incentive of a couple of hundred dollars for this service. Good driving record and non smokers considered.

Maxman,

What part of Maryland? My wife and I moved from Silver Spring to The Villages 2 years ago and have not regretted it even once.

Maxman, I hope you have a safe trip! We will be leaving Maryland on Dec 14 to head to our new home in The Village of St. James. We are planning on spending one night on the road. Can you let me know where you are about 9-10 hours into your trip from Reisterstown. We will be coming from Harford County with our small dog and want to make a reservation someplace for an overnight stay which will allow pets. Thanks!

We moved from Abingdon in July and stopped at Ridgeland, SC, we closed on our CYV in Tamarind Grove just over three months ago. We left Harford County about 9am and I had calculated to make Ridgeland about 6pm, one reason was there was a Shoney's next to our motel and they have a decent buffet. As it turned out, we didn't get to Ridgeland until 9pm because of a several of back-ups in North Carolina. Fortunately we stopped at a Shoney's about 75 miles earlier, I say fortunately because the Shoney's by our motel was closed for remodeling.

Well we made it. Left Friday at 5:30pm. We ran in to horrendous traffic from Baltimore to Richmond. Drove 300 miles by 11pm and spent the night in northern NC. Cats surpized us as they settled down and slept 4 to 5 hours.

We drove the last 600+ miles in 9 hours today. I already love it here, but my poor wife misses her mom. I know in a few days she will come around.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I will be a sporadic watcher of TOTV till we get our Comcast set up.

Wishing you safe travels--
We will be doing the same in January from Miami --but originally from Maryland (my son and his family live in Owings Mills --not far from Reisterstown). In which neighborhood will you be?

We are in Virginia Trace (needed the mid-atlantic connection LOL). Today I am posting from Starbucks in Sumter Landing. We are very happy and hopefully our cart, moving van, and murphy bed will all be delivered today without a hitch. Spending money like I have deep pockets, which I don't, on stuff for the house. My only regret was I missed the Ravens victory yesterday over the Texans.

Maxman, Thanks for the update, glad you made it safely! My husband went to the Ravens game yesterday . . . and yes it was a great day and the weather was beautiful! While we were at the Villages in September, we went to the Haciendas to watch the games. They reserve several tables for Ravens Fans and it is lots of fun. We will be moving in on Dec 16th and come Christmas Eve, my husband (and maybe me) will probably be at the Haciendas watching the Ravens play the Browns. :D

I saw the win yesterday, thank god for NFL Sunday Ticket on Directv. Otherwise the game of choice here was Dallas at New England. A lot of Red Sox and Patriot fans here.

I played golf a couple of weeks ago with a fellow from Bel Air and he said the same thing. they get about 75- 85 Ravens fans at Hacienda Hills Country Club every week for the game.
