Since ths is billed as a Golf Cart community, why don't they (the owners) ban all cars from parking in the squares proper. Golf carts only. Double the parking space and would be a lot safer for all. We just about don't go to the squares anymore in the evening because of the traffic problem and parking. Cars could be allowed to park in the big parking lots off the square proper. If someone needs to drop off ADA folks, drop them off, go park, and when ready come back and pick them up. Cars would be allowed standing only, just to pcik up and drop off.

I agree, this would certainly be more convenient for those of us who drive carts to the squares. However, there are still lots of folks that don't have carts and drive their cars everywhere. Of course, they could simply park in the surrounding parking lots and not on the square proper.
To be honest though, I've never had a huge problem parking my cart at either of the squares. We go to the squares on a regular basis and sometimes for very popular events. Last week, we went to LSL for Italianfest and we parked our cart very close to the square, in the parking lots behind Starbucks...
But, I like the idea

Yes, but can you imagine the traffic jam one would cause if the only option for handicapped was to block traffic when dropping off or picking up someone.

That's is one reason I stay clear of the town squares and its only going to get more congested, unruly and uncomfortable. Beside which for me the only real attraction is the ambrosia

How about golf cart shuttles from the parking lots like they have at the hospital?

It will never be - because - like so many really good ideas - it makes too much sense. It has to be radical or nasty for it to get approved here. Like a ban on pets who use people's legs for a whiz or boozers who walk around carrying their two for the price of one beers - will never pass. Too bad because they are all very, very, good ideas.

:throwtomatoes: I would not want to see rules change to benifit one group of people over another. after all you all pay the same for the right to live in TV!!!! Not everyone wants a golf car. And they may want them taken off the streets all toghter, then what???:spoken: We all need to learn to play together, children.

There are communities that allow small cars and Alternative Fuel Vehicles priority angle parking and larger vehicles have to use the back lots or parking garages.
The Village Streets are public roads so I don't think there is anthing that can restrict a vehicle.
I'm not sure of this IMHO
I don't see the parking problem at the squares and we go frequently The only time i've ever had a "slight" walk is for events like Italianfest or St. Patty's Day. And I didn't consider it much of a walk.

Maybe they should restrict parking to allow only bicycles. Imagine how many bicycles could be parked in the spaces now being used by carts. ( My tongue is placed firmly in cheek ).

I agree, the parking lot behind Starbucks is where I park. Nice pleasant healthy walk to square.

Why not institute a ban on anyone under 55 years old while you are at it? That would keep the "roving gangs of teenagers" away from Spanish Springs and The Church On The Square after dark.

Great idea....that would also keep our kids and grandkids from wanting to visit us and go to the squares . . .

I agree totally with this.......and we even have a person who is in a wheelchair....we just park behind the buildings in the parking lot. Also, most "golf cart" communities have special parking for the carts only at grocery stores, etc. Not here, the carts just double up in the regular parking places, including the handicapped accessible parking.....

My mom is so funny, she always has to make a comment (not too pleasant) about people who bring their dogs to the square. Personally, when I get a dog, I am going to bring it AND my mom to the squares.....that'll be a hoot!

We prefer to park away from square, grocery store or restaurant whether we are in car or cart whenever we visit. We use every opportunity to walk as much as possible as often as possible. We will all be using Hoveround Mobility Scooters soon enough anyway. Leave the spots on the square for those who need them. Exercise!
