Apparently the matress stores don't carry them...or, I can't find one that does. Has anyone an idea of where I might be able to purchase 4?

1" X 3" oak furring strips should be more than enough. Just measure the length you need and go to home depot. Usually one of the attendants will be happy to cut them to length.

Villages wood shop might also help.

1x4 boards cut to length. Get them at Home Depot
