Today's Rasmussen Poll - Cain 43%, Obama 41%

Today Herman Cain hold's a small lead over Obama in a hypothetical contest between the two. He's the only Republican candidate to be in that position today, although Romney had a lead over Obama previously.

I know it's early and means little right now, but it does show that the "Cain Train" is making itself known and enough people are paying attention to his message.

And "they" said it couldn't be done.

Richie, with over a year to go, and several weeks to the first primary, anything can and will happen before its a over. Let's wait and see what else happens, before jumping to any conclusions as "they" could be right on the money.

I don't think he will be selected, but I will vote for him if he does get the nomination. He tells it short and sweet and that is what we need right now. I don't care if we elect a write in, as long as he will be conservative enough to stop the out of control spending.

Just one small caveat. Laws are based on morality, are they not. How do you separate morality from religion. Don't the moral views you have emanate from your religious upbringing?

I agree and I am sure I do get my moral views from my religious upbringing.

Now I have to think about Laws being based on morality. I am not so sure that is a fact. I am sure some are, but are they all based on morality or are some based on public or personal need/desire/etc.? I used to think I was pro-choice because GOD told me to be pro-Choice through my interpretation of bible verses. Katz has my head spinning with a different point of view that I am thinking about. Even VG in another post talked about Germans killing Jews by the law. Ya can't argue with that logic. So lets see now, I agree with Katz, I agree with you and I agree with Villagegolfer who all appear to be pro-Life, yet I am pro-Choice. I don't know if I have the ability to think in such a complex way. Anyway, it all comes back to my simple minded feeling of who or what gives one individual the right to tell a women she is doing wrong or committing murder when having an abortion. Ro Vs Wade was passed in the US Courts under the watch full eye of the all knowing GOD. Maybe GOD is saying that is an issue left up to the individual. Now I am dizzy again. Wait a minute, it just dawned on me what Richie said in another post. Something to the effect that he is not going to make the decision for anyone, just wants them to think about it by pointing out is opinion. I see Eric Robert Rudolph or Scott Roeder when I think of Pro-Life advocates. Since I am sure in my heart that Richie is not an extremist, I will try my best not to group folks on here with the pro-life stance with extremists like them to nuts. Now, I will do some syferin and figurin on this topic.

Nice thoughts. I'll just add for a little clarification of my "morality" point, that most laws that govern interactions can be seen as an extrapolation of the "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" admonitions of Christianity and most other religions.

Richie has made sense of his viewpoints and I agree with him in principle. A person can be against abortion personally and would not advocate it but it is a personal choice each woman has to make for herself. This is a form of being Pro-Choice. Politics ought to stay out of this completely. I applaud Richie for his views (on this).

The only point I've been trying to illuminate and reveal in this discussion is the balance of beliefs that allows those who consider themselves Christian to justify their support for the ending of innocent life at it's beginning. It just seems incongruous to me.
