Hi Helen,

Welcome to The Villages. We purchased a home in the Village of Tall Trees last October. We still live in Ellicott City, MD and only visit our Villages home six weeks a year. We will be moving down full time when I retire in about five years.

You have made a wise dicession. The Villages is the best place in the world to retire.

Be sure to find out about the Maryland Club when you arrive. Great bunch of people and lots of fun.

Best wishes,
Doug and Laurel

I was born in Baltimore but raised in St. Petersburg, my dad hated the cold weather so we moved down in 1959 when I was in the 4th grade. I went on to live six years in Pensacola, really nice area, and ten years in Savannah. However, I moved back to Baltimore in 1989, so I lived the last 22 years there. We closed on a courtyard villa in Tamarind Grove on July 5th, and we're here full time.

We were born and lived our first 42 years in Baltimore. Moved to New Freedom Pa in 2000. Just retired last year and working towards a move full time in The Villages. Cannot wait! Maybe we'll bring some Old Bay steamed crabs with us and have a Baltimore reunion.:cold:

My husband and I were both born and raised in Baltimore County. We moved to Harford County 36 years ago and are moving to TV in December. Since we are keeping our Ocean City Condo, we plan on spending our summers there. We are very busy these days packing and cleaning out our house in preparation for our big move. As much as I will miss Maryland Crab Cakes I can't wait to get to The Villages. :a040:

We had crab cakes today, along with cole slaw, baked beans and sliced tomatoes. All the stores here carry Phillips Crab Cakes. We found them the other day at Publix buy one get one free, so we picked up four boxes. As far as steamed crabs that's a different story. We're going over to New Smyrna Beach on Thursday to a seafood restaurant that is suppose to have them.

Most who have responded here seem to be from Baltimore area. I moved into TV yesterday from upper Montgomery County. I'm native to MI but moved to MD in 1977 and that is where I raised my family so I guess I would say it was home until yesterday. I can't wait to begin exploring TV and all it has to offer and I also did not realize there was a MD club. I hope I can find more information on it.

Hi Guys,
I worked in Charm City from 1975-1978 BPD Western District. Lived on Libery Road just outside the city. I saw the Colts in the Inner Harbor while working the festivals in the summers. They used to have a stand serving sandwiches. Great bunch of guys.
We live in Cape Coral Fl and will be up for the Thankgiving weekend. We bought a home in Santa Domingo this past March and get up to TV once in a while.
JohnW, thanks for all the info on your new golf cart. I am going to purchase one and your information helped me make my decision where to buy, THANKS!!!!!!
I hope to meet many of you guys when we are up in TV for longer stays, until then be well and best wishes.

I was born in Baltimore County pronounced Baldimore as opposed to Balmore City.

Lived in Howard Country for the last 15 years before coming to the Villages a few months ago. As luck would have it our friends from Ellicott City are moving here this week.

So now you have four more for the crab feast!!!

I agree with those above that the Maryland Club is a great place to get your crab and Old Bay fix.

Born & raised in Balmur. Lived 30 years in Columbia before retiring to Ocean City. Grew to hate the winters there. I can remember when Memorial Day meant hot weather at the beach. Now it's still cold in July. Calling Gilchrist my home now, for good.

I think it's the Delmarva club that another poster referred to, not exclusive to Marylanders. FYI, there are active Ravens and Redskins groups here too.

Bring your Old Bay seasonlng. You'll probably want to take it with you to any local restaurant offering crab cakes. Local chefs don't know what it is.

There use to be a Crown station on that corner. My dentist in the late 80's early 90's was next to the station. Dr. Sandy Cook, the singing dentist. I've got about a dozen crowns courtesy of him. He was the dentist that use to have commercials on TV where he was playing his guitar and singing. Told great stories about his airplane and flying down to Myrtle Beach every chance he had. Unfortunately his fast lifestyle caught with him, I think he was busted for cocaine and never heard anymore about him.

My husband and I were born and raised in Baltimore County (me) and Baltimore City (him). We settled on our house in Fernandina last year and visit as often as possible. We've heard about the crab cakes at Hacienda- during the Ravens game. So glad we'll still have access to great crab cakes. By the way, Gino's is back in Baltimore County- good but not quite as good as the original I remember. Avid Ravens fans - look for the house with the Ravens sign post! Can't wait to get to TV full time!

When we first moved here in 2011 I heard Hacienda Hills was the watching spot for the Ravens and about the crab cakes. I never went since I have NFL Sunday Ticket and watch ever Ravens game at home. However, we went to Hacienda Hills for a Crab Feast Oct of 2012 and I had heard the manager that put that together had moved out of the area.

The last info I've heard was that the manager at Beef O'Brady's at Mulberry was a big Ravens fan and served crab cakes when the Ravens played and a lot of fans went there. However, I've never gone during a game. In the south area, O'Sheas across from Brownwood had a complete Ravens Room set up for the games, but unfortunately they went out of business about six months ago. I was told last season by a bartender at Sonny's that many Ravens fans go to Gators Dockside at Spanish Springs for the games.

Thanks John. So, NFL Sunday Ticket is a must!

Yes, you'll need Directv for NFL Sunday Ticket. In fact we dropped Comcast for Directv while back in Harford County in 2008 and when we moved we just brought our two boxes with us. If you do that they'll give you some discounts when they hook your system back up in Florida. Otherwise, the local games are the Jaguars and Buccaneers, not exactly excitement, plus I've never missed a Ravens game.
