I've been taking Pradaxa for a while; while I'm not an expert on the medication, I'd be glad to try and answer your questions.

I investigated it for my anti-coagulation needs and found that it is not a good choice for me. I have APS which has caused me extreme problems leading to a heart transplant. One of my Dr.s main concerns was that there is no antidote for pradaxa should it be needed, such as using lovenox to temporarily go off coumadin. The doctors at the Shands heart transplant center were pretty much unanimous in saying they would only even consider it for very limited use in atrial fibrillation cases.
