You know if you're under 65 you cannot get a medicare supplemental plan with a condtion such as cancer. (Well if you have been treated for it in the last 5 years) Only an Advantage plan...

If you are under 65 you can't get Medicare unless you are disabled. Therefore, you can not get a supplemental policy or an advantage plan. My understanding was, when we went with AARP United Healthcare's Supplemental plan at age 65, any pre-existing condition (such as cancer) could not be used to deny coverage. In fact, if I recall correctly, they couldn't even ask such questions on the application. I believe that you are given this benefit once, the first time you apply for a supplemental policy. As for Medicare Advantage Plans I had no problem being accepted last year. I had been diagnosed and treated for cancer 3 years before I turned 65. So, if I decide in the future to go back to a supplemental policy, the insurance company WILL have the right to then ask me about any pre-existing conditions. At that point they can deny me coverage and/or slap me with high premiums. This is one big reason why we should carefully consider leaving any supplemental policy. I had to give it a lot of thought when I was thinking about switching to an advantage plan. I hope this helps.
