Eisenhower (Not because of anything he did (I was only 11 when he left office), but because my Dad loved "Ike"); Reagan (because he was a born leader whose policies ended the Cold War); and Clinton (because kept the fringe elements of his party under control and balanced the budget).

Interesting that several people have mentioned Nixon along with two Democrats. When Nixon was in office, and especially shortly after leaving, he would not have made many "favorites" lists, but the healing effects of time have treated Richard pretty well. He was a good president who succumbed to his own insecurities.
Mine;
Harry S. - As a native Missourian have to love HT - Another president who was very unpopular, even in his home state, right after leaving office, but who has gained greatly in historical perspective.
JFK - The first campaign - election that I took a real interest in.
Clinton - Another president who would be more revered if not for personal failings.
hon. mention; Nixon, George HW Bush, and Johnson (Vietnam ruined him, but civil rights legislation he championed changed this country more than anything in my lifetime.)

Because the Kenyan comment asserts that Obama is not qualified to be president by birth and is a lie, not an opinion.

I noticed that the wording that was in the original post has been modified. I guess someone else felt it wasn't appropriate.

President Kennedy
President Clinton
President Obama
I sometimes wonder how much this country would be different had JFK not been assassinated and he went ahead with the withdraw of our troops from Vietnam. In 1969 I dropped out of college, gave up my deferment and joined the Army. It's really hard to comprehend how much different things could of been. For one, 59,000 Americans wouldn't of been killed in action.

You are right - both are in poor taste, however the first one originally had the word idiot in it prior to being edited.

I will note though that my question was NOT about the content of the negitivities, but rather about the reaction to negatiity being 100% one-sided! Unfortunately, I got no real answers to my question, only part of my question being taken out of context for whatever the intended objective was!

I agree, Gracie. We all have our religious and political views. I try to avoid the issue whenever I can. But some people are attracted to controversy like metal to a magnet. At this point of my life, I want to enjoy every day I can.

momesu: I agree it was a good post because we learned what type of person voters felt made good presidents. Buggyone felt it would be moved to the political forum and I said not if people stick to naming their favorite three presidents. Its obvious that if the Dems could find another Truman and the Republicans another Reagan why then the presidential race would be a shoe-in for them. The nicest thing about it is we would all be winners because both these guys were did well by America

Truman - Yes because they are still using the purple hearts that they would have used in the invasion of Japan.
Ike - The economy would have grown anyway. We were the only guy on the block left standing.
JFK - Yes The Cuban Missile Crisis was kept from spiraling out of control.
Johnson - No President by default
Nixon - Yes everyone agreed that he was brilliant. and if he was a crook, he was a damn poor one.
Ford by default
Carter - brilliant man but couldn't handle everything by himself and didn't have a talented staff.
The Rest - presided over the slow decline of the Middle Class

Except for Johnson, Ford and Carter I kind of liked your comments on your picks. Leaving out Reagan is a huge omission, even if you're a union man like me. Good overall, though.
