I have Dr. Desai for my primary care physician. I have been seeing her for about a year and I feel that she is doing a good job of taking care of my health needs. She is very nice and seems to listen to my concerns. One of her specialties is bio-identical hormones and she often recommends supplements rather than prescription medications when she can. Of course, she also sells these supplements. I usually decline and decide for myself whether I want to take them. I can often buy good quality supplements for less elsewhere. She did recommend magnesium citrate for my sleeplessness and it has really helped......a much better choice than a strong prescription drug.

I've been seeing Dr. Desai for about 2 years now and have been very pleased with her level of service. She takes time with me not rushing me out for the next patient. That said, one thing I'm a bit hesitant with is that she is experimenting with the idea of sharing her practice with a nurse practitioner. The idea is for her patients to see one of them for every other visit. If this plan doesn't work out for me, I will insist on seeing Dr. Desai during all of my visits.

I hear that. Are you referring to Rebecca? (I think that is her name) She is actually the one who suggested magnesium for my sleep problems. It has helped tremendously. She seems very smart and I feel quite comfortable in her care. My regular "doctor" ten years ago was a nurse practitioner. It was on her watch that my breast cancer was discovered. I think all we can do is try these medical professionals and then decide if they are a good fit for us.

I've been seeing Dr Desai for 2 years but I am looking for a new GP . I've had problems with their billing dept sending statements that were already paid BUT my biggest issue with Dr Desai's office is... they charge you for an office visit when getting your blood results and charge you a dollar just to get a copy of them. In my previous home state the doctors office would mail the results to me .

When we first moved to The Villages I saw her but left within a few months. I had several questions regarding treatment issues that arose between appointments but she would not return my phone calls or reply to e-mails. At one point, I was in her office to pick up something and she was at the front desk. I asked her if I could ask her a quick question and she put her finger in my face and replied "You've got 1 second". I get the feeling that if you aren't willing to pay for an office visit she is unwilling to help. That doesn't work for me.

I get my Magnesium Citrate at Lake Nutrition Center. It's down near Publix in Spanish Springs. Make sure you get the tablets and not the powder, unless that is what you want! If you check the Clips (I hope I have that right!) magazine that comes about once a month in The Daily Sun you will find a 20% off coupon. You can also pick up the magazine at various locations around The Villages. Make sure you buy Magnesium "Citrate" since most other forms of this supplement are not absorbed as well. I take two tablets every day (400 mg, total) and it has made a huge difference in my sleep. It is also very good for jumpy legs!

I just started going to Dr Desai. I love her. I had an annual checkup and was happy with her. She did sen me home with an ear full of wax though and told me to buy stuff at the drug store to open it myself. 2 weeks later I went back to get help to get it open. I got an appt the same day I phoned. That was great. The original appt was made on Friday and I saw her on Tues. Not a long wait in the office either. The physicians asst was the one I saw the second time. and that was OK with me too.

I have been to Dr Desai once and due to go back for an appointment. I do have a complaint and that is what she charged for an office visit. I was charged $505.00 for just an office visit!!! Yes, I have insurance but that is way over the top. I see a heart specialist and he don't even charge half that!! I am very upset and when I called in to talk to them about this bill the person who takes care of the insurance never called me back. I am going to go back and I will discuss it with her and find out if this was a mistake or her normal fee. She does sell her own supplements which I think is also very expensive. I am tired of trying to find a good doctor in The Villages. If anyone is really happy with their doctor please post it!
