i have joined a senior organization which is a great alternative to AARP. it is AMAC (Assoc. of Mature American Citizens) which has a local office on 441. for those of us who were outraged when AARP supported Obamacare, this is a concrete way to show your displeasure...dues are $15 per year...more importantly, they also offer medicare supplement plans and i plan to check it out during this period when we can change policies. to join AMAC please call 800-255-4199 and to check on insurance policies 800-334-9330.

Chachacha -

From a past posting I recall you are in the Tea Party, if I am correct. The Tea Party gets upset when they are called the tea bag party or tea *******.

You just stated that AARP supported "Obamacare". Why not have the same set of understanding for those of us who get offended at the term "Obamacare"? It is called the Affordable Care Act.

Just because it was signed into law by President Obama, it does not change the official name to Obamacare. Look at Medicare as a prime example. It was signed into law by Lyndon Johnson. Well, you can see what that could be called and I am not going there.

Thanks for your understanding and I am sure you will now correctly call the law The Affordable Care Act.

The problem with calling it The Affordable Care Act is that it is in no way Affordable nor does it exhibit any amount of Care. Obamacare isn't really all that great either, because Obama Really Don't Care.
By the way, the term Tea ******* doesn't offend this Tea Partier. When someone uses the term, it just alerts me to the fact that they don't know $#!+. :)

You do not think Affordable Health Care is good? Ask a parent of a 22 year old college student who can now keep the child on their policy for 4 more years at affordable rates. Ask anyone who has some sort of health problem and could not get health coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

Yes, it is definitely good.

However, this post was to say that Obamacare is kind of a derogatory term. When you are with people who respect your position as a Tea Party person, please respect us by calling the plan by it's proper name - The Affordable Health Care Act. Thank you.

It has nothing to do with respect. You can put a gold ring in a pig's nose and call it a lady, but it will still be a pig...go back and read my post.

Looks like some Tea Party people will not give respect even when it is afforded to them in return. Well, those people are not even in The Villages and hopefully are not typical of those in the Tri-County area.

No problem - just keep on enjoying working in NW Ohio. The Villages continues to be a wonderful place and gets better each and every day.

I am sure selling a home in NW Ohio would be a major undertaking and most likely not a profitable situation but homes are selling like hotcakes in The Villages and home prices and values are rising.

Keep paying into the Social Security so I and my fellow Villagers can keep on collecting. We thank you for your contribution.

Enjoy your weekend.

Glad to be of assistance. Truly glad some are still getting what they deserve out of the SS system. Already prepared to never receive, and am OK with it. We have never put our hope in the government taking care of us anyway. Have very few materials needs or wants. Debt free, taking care of our own and then some. Life is good!
Hope you enjoy your weekend too!

chachacha: I dropped AARP long ago because their agenda did not track with my political leanings. I joined AMAC last year paid my dues for two years. AMAC appears to really focus on seniors wherein AARP detoriated into a for profit company at the expense of seniors. I hope AMAC doesn't fall into that trap. Seniors would be wise to carefully review AARP activities because they would find that they track with liberals that are left of Pelosi.

buggyone: with all due respect the reason they call it ObamaCare is because he and Pelosi hide in his corner office putting the final touches on it so that they could pass it before anyone could read it. Obama and Pelosi hotly debated its name ObamaCare , no PelosiaCare...... Pelosi said well i"m the speaker" And Obama said "well i'm the president. And so Pelosi understood the political ramifications and deferred to Obama, asking only if she could at least make the announcement to the American people. Obama said "yes." The next day Pelosi arranged a news conference. She said "Obama your very popular president the bastion of hope and change practically single handedly written this 2000 page law." " However, we won't know what's in it until it is passed. "

Cute little scenario you or yours concocted but let's not use the somewhat derogatory term of "Obamacare" anymore and call it The Affordable Care Act.
Thanks.

Gentlemen -

My only purpose was to kindly ask one of the Tea Party to address the Affordable Care Act by it's proper name instead of it's rather derogatory name. It is the same respect I now give to the Tea Party. Thank you.

OBAMACARE~
Apparently abc news has used the term at least once...

Looks like cbs news has a whole list of articles about it....

After reading the replies from the Tea Party people, it seems their want of respect for their party title is a one way street. They want the correct name for their party but are unwilling to give the Affordable Care Act its correct name.

The sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander.

To be honest, I don't find "Obamacare" to be insulting. There are aspects of it I liked (like the fact that I can cover my daughter for 2 more years) and aspects I don't (namely, 'the mandate').

It's an abbreviation. It's not like the other epithet from the Tea Party which had a previous meaning with a sexual connotation.

Even the democrats call it Obamacare. What is the big deal? They had to pass it to find out what was in it. Unbelievable.

buggyone: In the manner in which it was conceived and passed and in the manner of it contents there is not one shred of respectability for or in this law. I will however, in respect to you just this once refer to it as the "Affordable Care Act." Hit them straight

I believe that you are referring to KatzPajamas, whom has never found issue with any name that is used for supporters of the Tea Party on this forum.

In fact, here is what KatzPajamas DID say about names used for Tea Partiers.
