The new VA Clinic is a lovely building, but is severely understaffed. One of the staff told me that there are over 2000 veterans on their waiting list. If a veteran has an emergency, they might be able to be seen at the clinic, but there is no guarantee. They just are not getting the funding they need to properly staff up. On this Veterans Day weekend, I was wondering what we in The Villages can do as a group to get this clinic the proper funding. Perhaps we can form a "Friends of the VA Clinic" group to provide volunteers or other services if needed, or just to band together to throw some political weight around to pressure our congressional representatives.
