I'm not sure if I mistakenly posted in the wrong forum or if my post got moved, but I'm going to try again:
Does anyone know of a grocery (or restaurant) in TV area that sells THIN-CRUST pizza to cook yourself? We like my husband to cook it on the grill...yummm :icon_hungry: (I've checked at Publix and they don't have anything).

I think you can ask any pizza place to prepare but not cook it. I used to do that in California and there was no problem with the request.

I like the grilled concept, does it get a smokey flavor?

How do you go about cooking a pizza on the grille? Do you place it directly on the grates or put it on a stone or some type of sheet pan? Sounds interesting.

We put them right on the grates. It's a fun way to do a pizza party--set out the dough, cheese and toppings. Each person gets their own ball of dough and pick which toppings or how much to put on their personal pizza. A salad and glass of Cab and you're all set!

If you're just looking for fresh pizza dough, Publix does sell them in the bakery section.

We put them right on the grates too, and it does give the pizza a most delicious smokey flavor...we have had MUCH better success with thin crust pizzas.

That sounds soooooo cool! Do you watch to see if it is done or is there a rule of thumb for time? Do you spray the grates with Pam type spray? I have to try this....... Gas grill OK?

Seems like the heat would have to be turned way down or you would risk burning the bottom before the top was cooked, doesn't it?

If you are using fresh dough, spread it out on a pan or a stone and pre-bake it for about 10-15 minutes in the oven. You can do this anytime prior to making your pizza.

If you don't have time for fresh dough, use Boboli (sp?)...no need to pre-bake.

I preheat our gas grill on high and then turn it down to low. I place it right on the grates...no need to spray. It takes anywhere from 7-10 minutes.

You know your pizza is done when you smell it just beginning to burn.

Bon Apetito! :wine::icon_hungry:
