I just read your previous posts in other threads, therefore I will not participate in this farce.

I am glad to live in a civilized country. I think Gaddafi would have begged for the waterboarding over the torture he did receive prior to his death...

Just watched that interview Cain gave talking about Libya. OMG - what a total and complete disaster. Very painful to watch. You sit there, watching this interview, and you wonder what God was thinking when he told Cain to run for POTUS.

Come to think of it, Bachmann also said God told her to run. Sure is a busy fella.

Here's the problem I have with it.

When the Japanese did it in WWII, it was torture and condemned by all civilized nations.

We we do it, it's not torture because we 'say' it's not torture.

This is a very hypocritical stance to take.

Torture? Have you checked out a youtube demonstration of waterboarding? Check it out...pretty humane if you ask
me. No physical pain, no blood, no permanent scars.
Then google what was do to Gaddafi prior to his being shot in the head...
Besides, the people in that part of the world have CHOICES and they chose to take his life!
Hypocritical? ...I will now submit this post before I type the obvious...

I take umbrage to your comparison. Have you read accounts of Japanese tortures. Their death marches? POW accounts?

Mental anguish can be worse than physical pain. Water boarding is torture and no civilized nation would allow it to be used. PERIOD End of argument.

End of argument? Water boarding is not torture. If my liberal neighbor gives me mental anguish, that would qualify as torture? Come on, be serious.

Ask John McCain, he has steadfastly believes waterboarding is torture.

I have a real good friend who was a POW and in their exclusive circle, John McCain's name is not held in high esteem. I can't tell you details but he is not highly regarded by them.

the person to ask, including yourselves, if your family members were being held hostage by terrorists et al, and threatened to be executed in 48 hours and a captive terrorist knew the when and where abouts of the family....would some of you change your minds about what should or could be done to find their location and save them.....OF COURSE YOU WOULD.

Your current positions have no personal investment therefore very easy to pontificate right and wrong.

End of the REAL subject!

I am being serious and you are not. Fear of imminent death is not the same as an Obama sicker on your neighbors car. At least McCain has had combat experience and is qualified to talk about what is and is not torture.

There is a lot of folks that new a guy that had a sister of a man married to a mother of a POW. Not the same as being there my friend.

No, I know him personally. He not only was a POW, he was my commanding officer and we e-mail each other regularly. It is called first hand knowledge my friend.

Exactly.

And, since when does the American public, many of whom have zero military experience much less experience interrogating prisoners, get to advise and decide from their LazyBoy recliner our military command who are actually PRESENT in such situations???

It's not an either/or. It's not a decision of waterboarding versus thug assaults before an execution. Besides - it was the LIBYANS doing the deed on Ghadaffi.

The discussion is how WE will present ourselves. The rules by which WE will act.

If we said it was torture in WWII, what changed between then and now? That's a question that NOBODY has answered. Remember, with the Japanese, we were in an official, DECLARED state of war with them. And yet, despite the fact that there WERE Japanese spies and saboteurs on our shores, we didn't torture.

How do you know that? Have you military experience. Many things happen that citizens are not privy.

Now it is at a point of absurdity. I got the info from the horse's mouth. Got that buddy?

there is just way too much intellectualizing a subject that CANNOT be determined solely on armchair politics/opinions/feelings/BS/etc.

As I stated earlier...until or unless you are personally invested in the situation at hand you simply cannot make a determination....you can ONLY represent an emotional preference.

Forget the past and the Japanese and all the other fluff around the CURRENT issue(s) of getting information from terrorists to save American lives!!

loveithere: Spot on...you were one post ahead of me. Can you imagine comparing water boarding to what the Japanese did in WWII. The problem with all of this is that the liberals labeled water boarding as torture. What we must do first is have a discussion on what con stitutes torture before we can discuss water boarding or the liberals will continue to jump right over the definitions

Bozo's already in the White House, and hopefully we'll be taking down his circus tent soon.

Gee it's so much easier just making inane comments that mean little, the coralway way. Maybe I'll just keep doing it.
