I have been asked "Who are the best ROCK bands in The Villages." Having only been living there for a total of five months, I feel I am not the one to be a judge. It would be fun to rate them so newbies will know when to go to the squares to listen to the music.
The entries-
Rocky and The Rollers-
Yesterdayze-
Norman Lee and The Boondock Saints-
Street Talk-
Shepard's Pie-
Cactus Jack and The Cadillacs-
Slice of Lime-
Sounds of Time-
Lenny Wilson-
DID I FORGET ANYONE?????

This is good IslandBabe- Aside from Yesterdayze, I have never seen any of the other above bands you mentioned. When I return in January, I will make it a point to check them out.

You talk only of bands - not the total entertainment package offered at the squares. I happen to like all the bands mentioned so far and would be hard put to name a #1. However, some non-bands would rate very high on my list. For example, several times I have made "special" trips to a square because Scooter the DJ was playing that night. I really enjoy his entertainment, which (to me) more approaches a show than anything else.

Just Mike is real good and he mingles with the crowd while playing. I find the interaction of Just Mike loads of fun.

We heard "Mpire" a couple of weeks ago. Will absolutely blow any other band away.

You forgot Bobby Blackmon and the 3 B Band. They are a blues group and are EXCELLENT!
They were in Spanish Springs last night (Saturday) and "blue" the place away!

All these bands I never heard of. I'll copy this thread and make sure I get my butt down to the squares when these bands are playing.

Since everyone has such different tastes in music, I would appreciate hearing (more correctly--- reading) your reasons as to why you like a certain band or entertainer in TV and generally what type music they play.
Thanks.

PS. That 'singing' icon looks more like a baby crying! Maybe it needs a microphone.
Thanks for this thread, Tom. It certainly took off fast!

I haven't seen Yesterdayze and Rocky enough to be a judge, but as much as I like Norman Lee and The Boondock Saints, I think they play the same show too often. I've seen them three times and I can almost know what song is coming up next. A great band will throw in different songs. Norman Lee also takes too many breaks. The two times I saw Rocky & The Rollers I was amazed how long their sets were. Yesterdayze, I only caught once by chance and were impressed with what I heard.

We go to the square whenever they have Yesterdayze, Cactus Jack & the Cadillacs or Street Talk. We did like Rocky but after seeing them about six times the show doesn't seem to change. There is also several different lineups that feature Clark Barrios. He's OK if you get through his first set, then they'll start to rock.

Rocky's first set is always ninety [90] minutes.Norman Lee does forty minutes, leaves, and his band does ten more minutes. Then after a 15-20 minute break the band often leads off the second set and then Norman comes back. What does this mean? Too much Boondock Saints and not enough Norman. He does the same thing when he plays Katie Belles.Only then when he cuts out of the set ,his recorded music takes over.I guess because he's so good and people love him,he can get away with playing such short sets.By the way I love the Doc Holliday band and Bobby Blackmon.

[QUOTE=Tom Hannon;422814] Norman Lee also takes too many breaks. The two times I saw Rocky & The Rollers I was amazed how long their sets were.
Love to watch and listen to Norman Lee, but 20 minutes of music followed by 20 minutes of breaks is not entertaining.
