What are your favorite places off campus to eat. We are looking for good food, not fancy and not a franchise. Now that it is getting a bit crowded at our TV places, it would be fun to try some others, thanks.

:wave:Stumpknockers! Located in Inverness or the original location which I consider to be the best on Hwy 200 West of Ocala...!

I enjoy going to Crackers in Chrystal River for sea food and being on the water. If you don't mind about an hour drive which is actually a very nice drive. Route 44 west past Inverness to the west coast. You'll come to Route 19, turn right (north) and Crackers is on the left about within a mile.
Sets on the water, casual atmosphere and good food. It's nice to get outside the bubble now and then. This is a favorite of both Villages motorcycle clubs. These clubs always eat outside The Villages because we love to ride, and can recommend dozens of great places to eat near and far.

Try:

Harbor Lights Restaurant
(352) 793-7058

Lake Panasoffkee
907 County Rd 439B
Lake Panasoffkee, FL 33538

They advertise in the Village Sun. About a 30 minute ride and worth it. Nice setting on the lake.

Home style Buffet. We like Thursday nights. Roast Turkey, Ham and Beef sliced to order. Home made mashed potatoes, shrimp, stuffing, veggies, and more. Soup to start and limited desserts to finish. Thursday night costs about $11.00 Friday & Saturday a little more. Added selections make it worthwhile, but we like Thursday best.

Us too. Their barbecue and sides never disappoint and it isn't FAR off campus.

Haven't been there is a while but have always enjoyed Goblin Market in Mt. Dora. (You may have to ask to find it - located down an alley.)

I've hesitated to try Gator Joe's. i know the ambiance is quirky, but I'm afraid the food might be quirky too?:icon_hungry:

Trish,

Hellas Restaurant Tarpon Springs is a combination full service Bakery and full restaurant on the main street across from the Sponge Boats.

Outstanding authentic Greek Food at reasonable prices. Having been to Pappas and Hellas, I can assure you that Hellas is far superior. Give it a try next time you take a trip to Tarpon Springs.

When I go "off the reservation" I like Little Joeys just North of the Villages in Summerfield on 441 (on the left). Great Italian food, large portions and home made!

Harry's in Ocala, located downtown on the square. Try the chocolate bread pudding -- it's to die for!

Good responses but to add my comments:

Gator Joe's is bar food for the most part - but good.

Goblin Market in Mt Dora is very good but very pricey.

Tapon Springs is a long drive as is Homasassa. If you go that far
you may as well drive to Gaylord Palms in Kisseemee for their buffet.
Just to walk their 4 acre atrium is worth the drive.

Alfie's Restaurant (352) 288-9771 11677 E Highway 25, Ocklawaha, FL
is noted for their Prime Rib but I have been disappointed. However they offer an extensive menu with many good items. People rave about the rib so maybe it's just me.

Thought of another - The Embers on 441 in Lessburg.

Somewhat pricey but not too bad.

Ruby St. Grille in Tavares....very casual, fun atmosphere. Check to see which type of live music is playing on website, according to your own taste. We have fun everytime we go.

Tarpon springs is worth the ride if you like authentic Greek food. We like Mykonos which is on the left as you start down the street.
