Has anyone got a universal remote to work with the new dta box from Comcast? I have a RCA universal remote that I can't seem to program. I tried all the codes and even tried auto program. Thanks.

We haven't had success with our Universal remote either. Hubby is going to try taking it back to where he bought it (TV and electronics store) to see if THEY can re-program it. Meantime, we are using the remote that came with the TV, but,

Heck.... we are have difficulty just getting the channel to change 1/2 the time.
Never had this problem with Comcast where we lived previously. It's annoying.

I researched this briefly when the DTAs were switched on. As I recall, most older and existing remotes use infrared technology to talk to the receiver but these Comcast DTA boxes use a newer and different technology so older remotes won't work with it. You have to use the plain Jane Comcast DTA remote.

I also had trouble programing the new comcast remote on all three units I received from comcast. I called the telephone number listed in the papers received with the units received and they worked me through the process. For each television brand I had they gave me a different code to enter in the remote. The new comcast remotes now work just fine. I was told once I put the television remote on channel 3 to put it away and only use the comcast remote provided. The only time I need to use the original tv remote would be when I need to adjust the settings on the tv such as color, tint, etc. I really like the comcast remotes because they are SIMPLE.

Yeah, they seem to have a knack for figuring out the "adult-proof" stuff.

Yes, this is the process to get the Comcast remote to work with your TV.

I believe the OP was trying to get their TV/Universal remote to talk to the DTA box...that's where the difficulty arises. The Comcast remote is very barebones whereas the universal/ original TV remote has lots of extra features like audio controls, picture width, input selector, etc. I would rather use my original TV remote to control the DTA, but, not happening.
