My husband and I have been on Weight Watchers. I'm kinda doing my own thing now and not on a strict WW diet as I have lost 25 pounds and have kept it off for 2 years. We do watch what we eat though. My husband is the same. he lost 15 pounds. We are not big people but had put on weight that we needed to take off to keep healthy. Now with the holidays, we are treating ourselves a bit but still weigh ourselves every day! Good luck with your diet.

I know there are online Atkins support groups, but I don't know of anything in TV. There is an OA group in TV, but that isn't about low-carb dieting.

A lot of people think Atkins is unhealthy. But after induction, when you can add vegetables and fruit, I think it is quite healthy. Atkins works for me because it takes away my appetite. I never had the patience to count points on WW.

I tried WW for a couple of years..... about the only thing it did for me was stop me from gaining more weight. It was my own fault....I played with the points, knew how many I could have and usually ate most of them in carbs:(:( I am finding out more and more, as much as I LOVE carbs of any kind I really need to limit them. Yes even fruit:(:(

modified low-carb plan that is doing a low-carb day twice a week. We are going to do it every third day. I've copied the article from Naturecast Health Alert so that I get all the info right. Looks easier to do than following a "diet" every day.

Superior Diet Reduces Blood
Levels of Insulin and Weight
SOUTH MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – A newly released study conducted at the Genesis Prevention Center found that restricting carbohydrates two days per week may be superior than simple low calorie diets for preventing many diseases including some cancers such as breast cancer.
Michelle Harvie, Ph.D., SRD, who presented the findings said, "weight loss and reduced insulin levels are required for breast cancer prevention, but these levels are difficult to achieve and maintain with conventional dietary approaches."
The researchers used three control groupsfor their study:
· A low calorie, low carbohydrate group for two days a week
· A low carbohydrate group that could eat unlimited protein and healthy fats for two days a week.
· A Mediterranean group that ate the diet seven days a week.
The results indicated that that both intermittent, low-carbohydrate diets were superior to the standard, daily Mediterranean diet in reducing weight, body fat and insulin resistance.
Mean reduction in weight and body fat was roughly 4 kilograms (about 9 pounds) with the intermittent approaches compared with 2.4 kilograms (about 5 pounds) with the standard dietary approach.
Additionally, insulin resistance was reduced by 22 percent with the restricted low-carbohydrate diet and by 14 percent with the low-carbohydrate-unlimited protein diet compared with 4 percent with the standard Mediterranean diet.
If you’re interested in losing weight and reducing insulin resistance, you might want to investigate if an intermittent type diet might be right for you.
Have a healthy day,

our first day of low-carb. We had 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon and green tea for breakfast, a bowl of veggie soup for lunch and spare ribs, cauliflower and green beans for dinner. Wasn't so bad and I think we can do this every 3 days. Now we'll see how it affects the weight and blood sugar over the next few weeks. It's all a balancing act isn't it. Everything in moderation.
