We are planning to move into our new Villages home the first week of January and need to purchase a car upon arrival. I believe if we purchase a car from a Florida dealer there is sales tax, title, dealer add-on charges, etc...
What, if any, are the additional expenses we can expect if we purchase from an individual. I see some tempting deals in the Daily Sun Classifieds.
Any information would be appreciated.

With a car sale from an individual, just the price.
Here, we pay sales tax, licensing and what ever else in fees to the DMV when we license the vehicle.

I would have to disagree.
When I last sold a car to another individual in Florida, you had to fill out a DMV form listing the date, mileage and Sales Price. The new buyer then paid taxes to DMV in the form of additional costs to register the vehicle. This was approx 4 years ago so if things have changed I am sure someone will let us know on this thread.

Your both saying exactly the same thing. To the seller you pay just the price. You pay taxes when you register. Works the same for dealer or private sale.
