What happens if you are about to receive a package that is too big for the mailboxes? Do they leave you a note and you pick it up at the local post office?

There are boxes for boxes at all the mail stations. Should you get a large package, you will find a key in your mailbox to open a box and find your box.

This is for all year and not just Boxing Day.

Just thought I'd throw that in for shrandell so she knew I knew what happens on December 26 in UK...;)

We had a notification in our box once to meet them the next day at the neighborhood post office to receive a large box. They had it in the back room.
