If we've been listening at all, we've heard the criticisms of Newt Gingrich. The only explanation that his current supporters offer up is "he's reformed, a different kind of conservative than he was last week, last month, last year and when he was in Congress. (Remember, his conservative colleagues threw him out as Speaker.)
Now in more thoughtful and expansive analyses, the likes of The Wall Street Journal, the National Review, columnist George Will, influential conservative blogger Eric Erickson all give Gingrich "anti-endorsements". And those opinions are stated with certainty--Gingrich is not a true conservative and further, he is not electable.
When will conservatives come to their senses and realize that their only choices are Mitt Romney or Jon Huntsman. Personally, it frightens me that the GOP candidate to unseat President Obama might be the likes of Newt Gingrich or Ron Paul. In my opinion, Obama has a glass jaw. He can be defeated by the right candidate. He will easily defeat the wrong candidate.
When will we collectively come to our senses?
