Cart Exhaust Pipe Extension

Is anyone aware of a place to purchase or have fabricated a tailpipe extension so that I could route the exhaust out the rear of my 2004 Yamaha G22?

I've checked most of the online places but no luck.
Frank, is this something your shop does and if so, could I get a ballpark price, please?

I had the Village's Golf Cart Store do it for me. Supposedly, they need to customize for each Yamaha model. Installed it costs about $75.00.

If you mess with the stock exhaust, it will change the back pressure and long term, you may need a valve job sooner. Exhaust systems are carefully designed to allow the engine to breath properly and allow all the products of combustion to get out.

You are probably better off extending to the side rather than the back to avoid the backdraft that the carts create, especially with club bags strapped on or the curtains down. Also you should be sure that the extension pipe is connected with a flexible coupler. The engine flexes on its rubber mounts and without the flex the exhaust system welds will eventually crack or break.
A couple of years ago The Villages Cart store welded the extinsions onto the factory pipe and bolted the extensions to the frame and the weld problems showed up. When I last looked (late summer) they were using a rubber-like tube for the connection. (I assume it was not rubber for a hot exhaust system!).
As for additional back pressure, I do not think that is much of a problem because the extension is added after the muffler and there is no additional restriction of exhaust flow. A 12 inch-long pipe of the same diameter should present the same outflow pattern.

Jazzper, you should call Carts and Clubs, 352-351-2278. They are a Yamaha dealer and I know they add an extension on the remanufactured carts that they sell. I have one on my Yamaha.

Thanks -- I'll compare TV to Carts & Clubs. and yes, the G-series and Drive all have different locations for mounting the pipe.

All Yamahas that TV Golf Carts sells includes the extension out the side near the rear. Works well, quieter and I hgave not nticed any smell from fumes, even with the Curtis Cab on mine.

I previously had the side exhaust on my G22 but didn't like the noise in my left ear -- hence the wish to try moving it further back.
