The Villages Media Group just released an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app for the businesses in Spanish Springs. The story is in today's Daily Sun; Section C1.
I downloaded it already, just to take a look. It's their first attempt at an app.
Go get it [Apple App Store] and lets discuss it....

I just searched for "Villages" and it came up on the app store. You might try "Spanish Springs" to see if that gets it

It looks as though what is up now is pretty much the shell --I assume it will be fleshed out with current info --restaurants need to include menus, shops need to include sale and coupon info, entertainment calendars need to be current. It looks as tho tge app was just launched so I imagine it is introductory at this point?

I have it loaded for future use. Now they need one for LSL and the stores throughout the Villages, especially phone numbers...and coupons for the eateries.

Not sure why the Media Group would release something like this, if it wasn't complete. Plus, put a big story in the paper about it.
Personally, I think you're seeing the finished product. Their creative group needs a couple 12 year olds to help them with design and content...

Sorry Boogie, I don't mean to be too critical...
I guess I expected a little more from a multi-million dollar media machine like the Villages. If they just scanned TOTV and listened to their potential audience, they would developed a different app. All in my opinion.

Just downloaded the APP and I think it's going to be very helpful. I'm sure there will be constant updates and I hope there will be one for Sumpter Landing soon.

Thanks MEMason! Those of us who are "away" right now probably don't see the newspaper.

Remember, this is an app. It will not be updated, on your system, unless it's upgraded via the app store and downloaded to your iPad. SInce it isn't a website, it won't be updated by the potential merchants.

Repeat --all apps are updated --I am pretty sure this is a beta and the designer of the app can update it as it gets new info -it's a good attempt --let's cut them some slack and see how it develops --doesn't cost anything --

When I read that article in this morning's Daily Fun, guess who was the first person I thought of? I chuckled.... :D
The tech group pretty much fell on their sword in that article, owning up to it being their first attempt at developing an app, it's been a learning experience for them, etc. Noble of them to offer that up - seriously. "Trial by fire" is always fun!

Mike.
About apps I am a dummy, but is this one from the merchants at Spanish Springs rather than The Villages Communication Group?
Please' splain.

Apps are application Icons that work pretty much for Apple I Phones I Pads and maybe the Mac Book
I may soon stand corrected but they may not work on a Droid or PC?
Yes Us far away in frost snow and dark land to not get the paper
I give credit for those trying to make this work.

I know what apps are. I have an Ipad...but do not know from whom this app came or was designed by or who paid for it. Was it the owners of The Villages through their media group or was it from the merchants?

Gracie... The app was developed by the Villages Media Group. Same folks that produce the Daily Sun and other Villages media.
I'll not be critical of them any longer for their app development. I'll just keep using the app Aroundme, another free app and it already lists LSL businesses, as well as businesses any other place I happen to travel...
Over and out.....

If you are critical...than it must be not great. You really understand that whole technology. Kind of surprised they dropped the ball, but...but..I have noticed that their computer programs weren't as sophisticated as what I would expect sometimes. Like when we asked to buy a house just like the model exactly the way it was outfitted, they couldn't bring it up on the computer but had to go through and painstakingly put in each feature of that home.
I shouldn't try to talk about stuff I have no knowledge of. I bow to your expertise Mike. And
I am too much of a cheerleader sometimes.
