Tailpipe Question

I want to add a tailpipe to my golf cart. Is it better to have the exhaust exit at the side or rear of the cart? The muffler is under the cart now and I am getting too many fumes.
Is there a muffler shop that can bend pipe close by? I will need to have something special made.

FYI
I found a place in Wildwood on 301 just south of 466A that made the tailpipe I needed. The pipe and clamp was less than $10.

I asked a similar question in a post a week or so ago and was referred to The Villages Carts so I stopped by their SS store yesterday. The sales rep there referred me to Jiffy Muffler in Wildwood (http://national.citysearch.com/profile/2855542/wildwood_fl/jiffy_exhaust_systems_inc.html).

I'll be checking them out after the holiday weekend.
