I thought I would take the time to provide some information on the Tampa Moffitt Center. We had cause to go there yesterday for some tests and were very impressed with the Cancer Center. They were very professional and kind, they had great procedures and appeared to be using the state of the art. As an example, (very slight example) they provide you with a locator which is about the size of a watch and allows them to identify where you are in the facility in case the Dr. can take you earlier, etc. This is not talking about the latest equipment but just a small thing that helps when going to a Clinic. They were extremely complete in their tests and to the person the staff were polite and thoughtful. We have had experiences with a number of other clinics, hospitals and this one stands out. We were not impressed with MD Anderson in Texas even thou it is usually rated as #1. It would appear that if you had a very difficult problem they may do fine but for the average
problem they are very poor. Have been to Lahey Clinic in Boston, Mayo in Jacksonville (also very good), Sloan Kettering, Westchester Med Center,
Feel that Moffitt can stand up to the best of them and would certaintly use it in the future if needed. Just thought I would pass on some thoughts. :coolsmiley:

I agree. Was treated at Moffitt in 2003. They are topnotch!

:agree:

Everyone there seems sincerely concerned and unlike some medical facilities you don't get the feeling the doctor is constantly looking at his/her watch.

My wife's doctor (at Moffitt) responds to her emails so quick you would think she is his only patient. (I know he did 7 surgeries Monday/Tuesday and I don't doubt for a minute that all 7 patients are getting the same level of care from him.)

Don't know why you had to go...but have to guess.

Here is a huge hug and every good wish and know that I understand.

It is so good to have your assessment. Many of us will need it.

And there are many ...GOOD outcomes. Just everyone remember that.

And hugs to all...and you know who you are.

It is good to hear that others share in our view of Moffitt. As I said we have been to quite a few noted Clinics and each had some good points, however terribly disappointed in MD Anderson in Huston, TX as it has been rated #1 but felt it was way over rated and would not go back.
Moffitt excelled in the state of the art, staff being extremely good to the patients, (they must have a pretty darn good education program) and is at the top of the list for return if needed. It is only about an hour and a half away so makes it pretty close for The Villages.:bigbow:

Thank you so very mich for this positive post. For those in other parts of the country who may be concerned about getting quality care, this is a very reaffirming statement of what medical care should be.

Best Wishes for good health.

Moffitt is on top of their game. The Husband is being treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma, we are very pleased with the system and communication.

We were referred to the Moffitt center here in The Villages for chemo infusion. Dr Hussein the oncologist was completely thorough with his evaluation and was in sync with the Moffitt center in Tampa. We felt that we mattered, many times patients can become lost in the medical system.

We are grateful to be here and have access to a highly respected medical facility.

Happy holidays.
