We just moved to Amelia Villas, in Summerhill. We love it here. But now I use the gate on Southern Trace at with the stop light at Buena Vista and directly across from the entrance to the Polo Fields.
This is one spot where a round-about would have made a lot of sense. Also it needs a tunnel for the golf carts. The stoplight doesn't seem to make traffic go smoothly. I wonder why they didn't build a round about there since there are so many elswhere?
Anybody got any ideas?

And why not? I think roundabouts are great. They keep traffic moving and you don't have traffic lights.

OMG, another roundabout thread...................Of course there is. Don't you know that roundabouts can be a never ending story just like they can be a never ending drive... around and around and around and around etc. etc. etc. :1rotfl:

I used to dislike roundabouts when I lived in Orlando, but I have become a fan here at TV. The stoplight at Buena Vista/Saddlebrook/Southern Trace is a real bottleneck. A roundabout there would go much smoother. Also the golf cart path is in front of the gatehouse, instead of inside the neighborhood, which seems dangerous to me. when there is a roundabout, it seems like they put the golf cart crossing in a safer place.
Oh, yes, thanks for letting me know about the tunnel. I didn't realize it was there.
Have a safe Happy New Year's Eve!

They ran tests about moving the cart crossing behind the gatehouse when they redid the multinodal path. But with the entrance/exit to the mail stop right past the gatehouse it was decided that it was not a good idea with the additional traffic flow.

I once went around and around several times because I always wondered what it would be like to do that. It was fun! And no one even noticed I was doing it.

I have a guess-- but it is only a guess-- why that one intersection might have a traffic light. It could be because horse trailers hitched behind trucks headed to the Polo Fields would have difficulty with the roundabout turns. If they enter TV from 466, turn north on Buena Vista and then left into the Polo parking lot, they would not have to navigate any roundabouts.
... Did I mention that this is just a guess.

I'm sure there was a very logical reason and your explanation makes a lot of sense. Good guessing. Remind me not to play Mastermind with you!

Anyone want to try for a Guinness record for most times around a roundabout?

Vistors do not know how to navigate them. Some people making left turns from the right lane. Problem seems worse since the begining of Dec.

I wonder if they made this a light instead of a roundabout so they would have an easier way to control traffic for Polo Field events, i.e., stop traffic on BV let the Polo field exit, etc.
I have no information on this, but felt like guessing as I await the fog to lift.

Did we always have to go behind the gate at the north Talley Ridge intersection and BV? My wife says yes and I sheepishly said we used to be able to go straight across like the south end.....

If I remember correctly, we use to travel straight across Tally at the north end.
