Two out of state doctors were charged in Maryland with multiple counts of murder under the state's viable fetus law for performing late term abortions.
Dr. Steven Brigham, of Voorhees, N.J. and Dr. Nicola Riley of Salt Lake City, Utah were taken into custody and each is awaiting extradition hearings according to police in Elkton, Maryland. The doctors were arrested after a 16 month investigation.
After a woman who was the victim of a botched abortion was taken to a hospital, an investigation was launched and police discovered at the abortion clinic, after the botched abortion, a freezer with 35 late-term fetuses inside, including one believed to have been aborted at 36 weeks, authorities said.
(OP Note: There can be no other word for a 36 week old except one; "a baby")
Maryland is one of 38 states that allow the indictment of someone who kills a viable fetus. Previously these law were only used to to charge those with killing a pregnant woman. The State of Maryland's decision to cite this law in the arrests of these two doctors is good news for those who believe in the sanctity of life.
Pro-life activists understandably hailed these arrests. I hope these doctors are incarcerated with life sentences and provide an example to those who continue these barbaric procedures.

A 36 month old would be called a three year old.

Corrected the typo in my observation; thanks. The right age was written correctly in the main post, though.
That's what you deemed comment worthy in this story?

Don't get news of these common occurrences on ABC, CBS or NBC...

To be honest, I can't wait to hear the other side of the story.
What kind of person waits THAT long for an abortion? What kind of doctor performs what kind of procedure?
I've heard of EXTREMELY rare case of abortions done that late for reasons like anencephaly or complications to save a mother's life but those are VERY few and far between. Even those who discover Tay-Sachs don't wait that long - the tests are done LONG before then.
I mean - at that point (8+ months) common sense would say that a C-section could take care of a lot of problems...

This is the second clinic to have been investigated and doctors charged. A few years back the authorities arrested a doctor in Philadelphia, if memory serves me correctly. How many more of these slaughter houses are out there? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Every now and then you're going to find these kinds of horror stories. Some 'doctor' (and I use the term loosely) trying to game the system - usually for money. Cuts corners, takes cases he or she shouldn't.
I remember a story many years ago (long before the Internet) about a clinic in Chicago that had horrific conditions that, well, I'm not sure I'd even want to relate the stuff I read about.
Of course this was in sharp contrasts to the clinic I was actually IN back in 1989 in Concord NH. To my knowledge, I know a handful of women who've had abortions and they were all done very early in very clean clinic environments. None had any complications.

"

At the risk of sounding judgmental it depends on what you define as a "very clean"? In otherwords one's personal and philosophical view on this issue ignoring the "right or wrong' argument.
Perhaps it goes to the fact that I m not that enlightened, or cannot think outside the box or lack the sophication to understand this issue. But it would seem to me that the act of intentionally destroying what is life or can become life ( pick your choice) is at minimum is contrary to our instinct for preservation of our species and at its worse barbaric and inhumane.
I truly have searched for some reasonable and/or logical rationale of why we would inflict this self imposed carnage on our species and for the love of me I cannot.

Without a lot of special circumstances, at 36 weeks, the mother should also be charged with murder.

What kind of person....?!?! What is the cut-off point where interfering with the womans's right over her own body becomes acceptable?

It will be very interesting to see how this case proceeds.
"We're in uncharted territory," Cecil County State's Attorney Edward D.E. Rollins said Friday. He declined to comment further because the indictment remains sealed until the suspects are arraigned in Maryland.
You will be able to follow the story in The Baltimore Sun online.

There's no excuse for "late-term" abortion. If the life of the mother or baby is in danger, a ceasarian delivery can be done in an instant.....probably even faster than an abortion.
The whole idea of abortion once the fetus is viable on its own (24 or so weeks) is heinous.

Enlightenment is not needed rubicon. You are INSTINCTIVELY feeling the TRUTH. By the way, there are far more of these "slaughterhouses" than our "enlightened" culture and politically correct news media are willing to devulge.
