I'm interested in getting into a beginning quilting class but there are so many I don't know which would be better for newbies. Can anyone advise? thanks

Don't know of any quilting classes for beginners. There are several quilting clubs where you can get friendly help.

All quilt shops usually have beginner classes, but probably the closest one is in Ocala - Whippoorwill.

At the same time, I'd visit a couple of quilt guild chapter meetings that are conveniently located for you - look in the Rec News. I think most of them meet weekly. You can take your quilt shop project there to work on in between classes, get helpful hints and get to know other quilters.

The guild itself (monthly meeting at Laurel Manor) sponsors various classes and workshops, mostly at the new library on 466A, but I don't think any are "Learn to Quilt," more like different techniques and types of quilting.

Whipporwill is located in Belleview across the road from Market of
Marion. They have a very good beginner class. The quilt guild of the villages has a good website that will answer a lot of questions. QGOTV.org. There are 700 members spread out among 12 chapters. Some chapters are at capacity, but the website will tell you which ones. Good luck. You'll love quilting!

There is a new quilt shop on 441 in Summerfield in a small plaza. It's the same plaza that "Jitters" is in. Mother and daughter team and they have classes and a newletter. You just need to sign up for the newsletter to find out what's new. I understand that Whipperwhill is closed and Peggy's Heirlooms in Ocala is closed too.
