That is good news for Sanibellians... Finally some competition for the much-loathed Comcast company.
But what about the other 42,000 villages households? Does bright house plan to expand backwards to existing rooftops and how far and when?

Moving to TV next week. What is an average cost for "The Bundle" with HD ? I'm just trying to get a rough idea.

Villages07 - I would love to think that we will be expanding to the rest of The Villages at some point, but for the immediate future Sanibel is all I know of that is in the works. Those types of decisions are made well above my pay grade. :) From what I understand there is a tremendous amount of paperwork and permitting to even think about doing anything. Of course if anything changes I will keep everyone informed as best I can.
2oldcrabs- I am glad you have decided to give us a shot. I definitely think you will be pleased. If you have any questions or if you need any help, give me a call and I will do my best to lend a hand.
Honganth - I wish we were in the village of Bonita as well. We would love to have you back as a customer! Thanks for the kind words and hopefully one day we will be able to get you service.
SgtJohn & HelenLCSW- Our triple play (phone, cable, and internet) packages can start as low as $110/mo. There are many options and we can discuss what you would like to have and tailor a package to fit your needs. You can always call or email me with any questions. SgtJohn, I received your email and will be getting back to you ASAP.
Thanks everyone for all the replies and for welcoming me to TOTV!!!

Villages07 - As far as I know the village of Sanibel of all that is currently in the works. I am hoping that if this goes well we will be able to expand to other sections of The Villages, but that decision is made many pay grades above mine. From what I understand, it is a very long and tedious process and there are mountains of paperwork and permits that must be done before they can even dream of doing any expansion. So, for now Sanibel only, but we will keep our fingers crossed and I will keep everyone informed of any changes as much as I can.
2oldcrabs - Thank you for giving us a chance. I definitely feel you will pleased with our services. If you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I will do my best to lend a helping hand.
Hoganth - I too would love to be in the village of Bonita and we would definitely love to have you back as a customer. Hopefully, some day in the not too distant future we will be there. Until, then thank you for the kind words. I hope your experience with Comcast improves.
SgtJohn and HelenLCSW - Our triple play (phone, cable, and internet) bundles can start as low as $110/mo. We offer a varitery of packages and al-la-carte add ons. I can custom tailor a package to try to meet what you are looking for in services and what you would like to pay per month. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. SgtJohn, I received your email and I will be responding to you as soon as I can.

If you need anything, have any questions, or are interested in customizing a package, please call, text, or email me. Thank you!
Also, I hope to be adding a list of new streets that we will be providing service to in the next week to two weeks. If you are in or are going to be in The Village of Sanibel, but did not see your street on the first list, keep an eye out.:024:

Hello Paul, Good to hear Bright House is coming to Sanibel. I understand they are a first class cable company. We will be building on Rain Lily Loop in Sanibel soon. We are long time happy DirecTV subscribers. Before I commit to DirecTV, what advantages does Bright House have over DirecTV other than cost? How does your sports programing compare and how many HD channels will be offered? I visited Bright House web site and got nowhere, it doesn't recognize zip code for The Villages or Sanibel. Will Bright House be offering internet speeds faster than 10mpb? We would like to see at least 15 offered which is ideal for streaming HD movies from Vudu. You may PM us with your info if you like. Thanks so much John

Hi all. Sorry about the delay in getting back to everyone. I was out with knee surgery last week and was not able to keep up with everything as much as I would have liked.
JC+John - PM sent. Again, terribly sorry about the delay in getting back to you.
Redwitch and Barefoot - I certainly hope the plan is to expand to as many Villages as possible. I think they know people want other options just from what we are hearing from the Sanibel residents. Hopefully, expansion will come sooner than later. I will do my best to keep everyone updated to any progress. :)
Also, it was brought to my attention that I missed one of the streets we have active in Sanibel. Rain Lilly Loop is also available to receive our services.
We are in process of turning on some new address on the opposite side of Pinellas PL. As these become available, I will make another list with street names.
Hope to hear from more of you soon!

Although we are relatively new to The Villages and presently have Comcast, which I will say, has not given us any problems to speak of, I had BrightHouse when we lived in Wesley Chapel and loved them. If I had a computer problem, they would talk you through anything. If they ever come into St. James, I will definitely go back to them.

Brighthouse just hook us up to a "triple play package". The installers were great. The came about 2 hrs early, but called ahead to see if it was OK. They even replaced one of the "cat 5" plugs in the wall that was defective from The Villages. We were in a rental unit for the last 5 months that had Comcast. What a difference! The Internet is faster than the Verizon FIOS we had up north. The only problem is, you need to call the sales Rep at the top of this post to get service. The Reps @ the "800" number for Brighthouse do not know they service TV. IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE SOUTH OF CR466A.:bigbow:

Caveman, I've been trying since before Christmas to get mine activated! I almost had the right person today, but they cut me off before they could send the signal. I'll have to wait until February to activate them now, because they used up all my minutes this month (I have a 450 min/month cell phone plan). It shouldn't take hours & hours of talking to 9 different people at Comcast to get the boxes activated, should it? Grrrrr.
Brighthouse, I live in Virginia Trace. Just run the line (or whatever it is) up Canal Street.... :)

Have you tried going to https://digitalnow.comcast.com/ and activating them yourself?
I have activated several neighbor's DTA boxes from my PC using this site.
The boxes have to be on and the TVs have to be tuned to channel 3.

We are in Sanibel and have had Brighthouse for 4 days. So far it is better than Comcast that we had in a villa we rented for 5 months. I think the internet is faster than Verizon Fios. When we were looking for a provider Comcast & Century had steep installation fees. Brighthouse was free, no 1or 2 year contract required. Installer went above and beyond. I was also able to get a 2nd phone number for my Father who lives with us. Do not call the "800" number to get service. You need to call the salesman @ the top of this post.

Paul, I know there have been a lot of questions about where you may expand to after Sanibel. Seems logical that you might first continue in the new and developing villages south of 466A before possibly going to the "older" villages. Would that seem the most likely possibility to you?

Oh Caveman, that's the FIRST thing I tried! For some strange reason the boxes they sent to me are not listed in their inventory. That's what's causing all the confusion. I tried to activate them one last time on Sunday, thinking that they wouldn't be busy on Sunday, and I have free weekend minutes on my cellphone.
Once again, it took 5 different transfers after each person guaranteed that THEY were the person I needed to talk to, and they would most definitely be able to activate my boxes. I was on hold with EACH person from 3 to 8 minutes until they came back on the line and explained that they couldn't do the activation. Each one ended their part of the call with the assurance that the next person would definitely be able to activate my boxes, and that Comcast support was there for me 24/7!
My final transfer was supposed to be (yet again) to Tech Support, went instead to Billing, and I got the message that the Billing department was closed and I should call back during regular business hours. Nooooooo! :22yikes:
That call took 57 minutes. I'm out of minutes for regular business hours, and I'm out of patience. Meanwhile, I can hum the Comcast 'on hold' song in my sleep, and I have almost memorized the serial numbers of the boxes.

In that case, my suggestion would be to take the boxes and the documentation you got down to a Comcast office and explain it to them and get new boxes or let them figure it out.
Or talk them to give you a free house call to get them working.

That is what I would think. Again, I do not know as I have no access to the meetings where future strategies would be discussed, but yes, I would think and hope that would be the plan. I mean I would think that if they had good success in the new areas, then they would want to expand to try to get as many customers as possible. I know going into new areas is a huge undertaking, but I would guess that if the ends justified the means, any business would be all for it. I would also imagine if there are new areas being built that along or near our current service areas we would be all about trying to get our services in there before the builds are complete because it is much easier to be there in the beginning than to try to retrofit afterwards.

Why, oh why does it have to be so darn difficult! To take out the boxes means moving furniture, and my heavy lifter guy is back in Utah right now. And you say to talk to them? Talk? Hahahahahah!
Z, I get caught up in the loop of tech support people who just keep transferring me until somebody cuts me off. Free house call. Sure. Right. Maybe after HoneyBoy comes back to TV I can help him move the furniture, and we can take those unregistered boxes back to Comcast.
Meanwhile, we haven't had many channels on the bedroom tv's since before Christmas.

It has been brought to my attention by two recent customers that some of the new streets I listed are actually located in The Village of Fernandina. I was not aware these streets were in a different Village due to their proximity to Sanibel. Well, turns out I learned something new!
So.... Now it appears we offer services in The Village of Sanibel AND some of The Village of Fernandina!! :a040:

Can you post the channel lineup available in Sanibel. Specifically, are you offering the NFL Channel?
RODIE - Unfortunately, we do not offer The NFL Network. I tried to post a PDF of the channel lineup for you, but it exceeds the size limits allowed by this site. If you use this link Channel Lineup | TV | Bright House Networks (http://applications.brighthouse.com/channel-lineups/default.aspx)
and select sumter county in the service area box, it will pull up a channel lineup for you. I recommend clicking on the "view printable lineup" tab. That will make easier to see and read, plus will allow you to save a PDF copy to your computer. Any TV with a box will receive all the channels coded B, S, D, SDF, BDF, BHD, OD, D, and DHD. TVs without boxes will still receive all channels coded S and B. Let me know if you have any questions and I will help however I can.
*If you prefer to email me, I can email you back the PDF version if that is easier for you. *

Well, yet again I learn something new thanks to one of the TOTV subscribers. Last time I learned that we we had expanded in to the Village of Fernandina when I did not realize that it was a totally separate Village. Now today, I learn that some of the streets I listed are located in the Village of Charlotte (Thanks Hugh!). I appreciate everyone's help as I try to learn the area as best I can. If you have any questions as to whether your address is servicable or not, you can always call or email me.
So, as it stands now, we now offer services in The Villages of Sanibel, Fernandina and Charlotte.
Hopefully, more will come in the future. As always, I will do my best to keep everyone updated to any progress.

I know we have quite a bit more territory that is going to be activated here shortly (Owl Dr and surronding areas in Fernandina is one of the top of my head). I will do my best to keep all informed as much as I can.

I have been working with Paul from Brighthouse Cable and have been extremely pleased with the service. They come when they say they will and if you have any problems just call Paul and he returns your call in a timely manor and sets you up with tech service if you need it. In fact we didn't set up our new TV's properly in order to get all of the channels and a tech will be here tomorrow to heLp us. I would recommend Brighthouse.

There may be a few I missed, so if you do not see your street, please contact me and I will look it up. Also, just because it is not built yet, does not mean that it is not coming. I know we have quite a bit more territory that is going to be activated here shortly (Owl Dr and surronding areas in Fernandina is one of the top of my head). I will do my best to keep all informed as much as I can.
As always thanks for all the love and please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason!

John M - It is a possibility, but it would be off in the future. I know we currently have about six months to a year of planned construction left on our current projects on the south side of 466A. If there are any plans to expand to the north side of 466A, they will be very closely guarded at a level very high above me. I wouldn't actually know until just before, just as, or just after construction starts. However, if I hear or see anything, I will let everyone know as soon as I do!
Missypie - Well, better is a matter of opinion. I strongly feel that we do offer superior service than Comcast.
-We do not require you keep any of our services for any amount of time.
-I offer combo packs of services that have price guarantees of either one year or two years. Most of Comcast's packages are guaranteed for 3, 6, or 12 months. So, while some of their specials may look better to start off, in the long run our services will be a much better value.
-We offer the fastest internet speeds in the area. Our packages come with at least our Road Runner Standard, which is 10mbs, and many now come with our Road Runner Turbo at a speed of 20mbs. Should you need the absolute fastest, we do offer our Road Runner Lightning at a speed of 40mbs.
-We do not require that every TV in the home have a box or a DTA converter in order to receive programming. With our service TVs with a box will receive the most channels, but any other TV in the home can plug directly into the cable outlet and will still receive about 65-70 channels of programming which would include all the local channels and all the most popular cable channels.
There are other differences, but these are just the most prominent that I can come up with off the top of my head. If you would like to further discuss the difference and further explore what we can offer you, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks all!

Paul, I am not sure whom to contact about TV, internet and telephone for our new home in the village of Sanibel on Vandenberg Court. We are closing this coming Monday (July 2) and I have called the 800 number 3 different times and did not get any assistance. Can you please direct me to whom i need to speak to. We will be on location in The Villages tomorrow evening and I probably wont have any internet access so if you wouldnt mind calling my cell at 585/281-6472, it would be very much appreicated.
I will continue to be on line until approx 4:00pm tomorrow prior to our flight.

Paul, do you know why Brighthouse refuses to carry the NFL Network channel? All other cable companies carry it except TW/Brighthouse. NFL is so wanted by many of your subscribers that it seems very backward not to carry it. Just wondering if you know why your company is not.

I am not sure the exact reason, but I do know that it has to do with dollars and cents. They feel their network is worth a certain amount of money per subscriber and apparently it is not the same number we had in mind. During that last round of negotiations I was told that they demanded the channel be offered as part of normal standard and digital service, we wanted it in a special package offering (i.e. our Sports Pass), but they wouldn't budge. To offer the channel in our standard and digital service would have made it financially unreasonable for both us and the consumer. Now, that is just what I heard. What actually happened could be completely different. But, no matter what it is all a money thing. When it comes time to negotiate for channels we work with Time Warner to make a larger number of subscibers and to hopefully negotiate the best price. I would imagine eventually we will offer the NFL Network as our customers would like it and NFL Network would like to have our customers, but I have no idea when we might actually have it.
Hope this makes sense and gives you an idea as to what is happening. Unfortunately, channels negotiations are handled well above my level so I won't know what is happening until it is done.
As far as missing games, I have found the NFL Network doesn't really show all that many games. As far as I can remember from last season, it was really on the Thursday night game that they had exclusive rights too. I may be wrong on that, my mind isn't fully in football mode yet. :)
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes, I actually just heard back from construction today concerning The Village of Gilchrist. The area covering that village has been sent to design. Once they are done, it will be ready for our construction team to start building. We will definitely be offering services in that village, but we may or may not be ready by the time your home is completed. If it is going to be a couple of months, then there is a good chance we will be ready to go when you are. I will do my best to keep you up to date. Hi Paul! I was at our home on Bradshaw Lane in Gilchrist last week and ran into a field service rep for Brighthouse. During the conversation he mentioned that he thought that the company was on-line in Gilchrist. He additionally called someone at the office and was told that the area was active and that smoothing (?) was being done in the area this week. Have any updates on the availability of service in this area!

Paul, what are the benefits of a whole house dvr? I understand that you can not schedule a recording without going to the TV that has a DVR, so if you are watching a tv where there is only a converter and want to record a show, you have to go to the other room, turn on the tv and record from that tv. Is that correct? Seems like a lot of trouble.

I can work on as little as one day's notice, meaning I can have someone there to do the install the next day after we talk and place the order. However, if you can give me 2-3 days notice it is much easier and we will have a wider selection of arrival windows to pick from. Wow, completely missed that one. Sorry!
The way our Whole House DVR works is there is one main DVR box that acts as the brains of the system. This is where you would setup and manage all of your recordings. Any other TV that has a box that is networked in the system would receive all the extra channels etc that a box provides, plus it would be able to share the recordings from the main box. In this setup yes, you would have to go to the main box to setup a recording. However, we can add extra DVRs etc to get around this if your situation dictates. Honestly, in my home I only have the one main DVR and two secondary boxes. I have only had a situation where I wanted to record something and had to run back to the main box occur once in the last 6+ months. It does and can happen, but honestly I haven't heard too many complaints about it. I have heard that eventually an update is coming that will remedy this situation, but I have not heard any timeline as to when we can expect to see this.
Hope this info helps. As always, if you have any questions or need any further explanations, please feel free to call or email me.

Hey Paul...
Comcast only allows its customers to put a "hold" on their service in the summer months of June thru Aug while away for a minimal fee ($10) but some of us part timers would like to have that option during other times of the year too.
Comcast sucked us in by saying they offer the "hold" service but we didn't think to ask if it was year round. So, when we requested a hold in December for a few months, we were told it only applies as stated above.
Show me that service and I will switch ASAP!

Billy,
That is weird. I never knew, nor had I ever heard that there were only certain times Comcast allowed you to put your services on hold.
We do offer what we call the seasonal plan. This allows you to put the equipment in your home into a sleep mode while you are out of town. There is a one time fee of $15.95 to enter this mode and a small monthly fee to keep the phone active (if you have that service). We do not limit what time of year you can enter into this mode. However, like everything, there are some catches. For the seasonal plan, you must be gone a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 9 months. You can enter into the seasonal plan only once every 11 months. It works out great for some of my customers that are down here during a set amount of months and up north or traveling for the others. BUT, I do have a good number of customers for whom this service doesn't work because they are away and back too frequently.
Hope this info helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Also, feel free to call my cell at 407-399-0259 or email me on my work email at paul.muniz@mybrighthouse.com.

I am sorry that you are not happy with Bright House, but I am not sure why...
It has been established several times in this post as well as others that we do not offer The Villages Networks at this time. Hopefully, this is something that will be resolved in the future, but unfortunately for now we do not have these channels. If you search some of the other posts most of my customers find it just as easy to get Villages news from other outlets.
On Demand is available on our service on any TV that has a set-top box. We offer channel specific On-Demands as well as Primetime On Demand which covers most of the major networks' primetime programming. I can send you a channel lineup if you need or if there is some problem where it is not functioning, please let me know and I will send a tech out.
I am not sure what you are referring to, but Comcast definitely DOES NOT GIVE you anything! They do offer DTA converters that allow you to get the same basic and standard channels we offer by plugging directly into the wall, but there is also a charge for each converter. Also, if you will search, you will see the price for these converters just went up.
You are more than entitled to your opinion and again, if you are unhappy with our services for any reason I certainly apologize, but as I have said many time, I feel our service offers the best services dollar for dollar and it appears the majority agrees.

With our current specials, triple play packages start at $118.50/mo plus taxes. This includes Unlimited Nationwide Phone, Turbo (30mbps) internet, and Digital cable with one box. Also, this price includes all equipment.
There are many variations and some other specials that we can do to tailor a package that is right for you. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.

A Comcast installer said that I would do better with any problems by using Comcast's live on-line assistance...that those people are better trained than the phone help people. Interesting.
