We are so excited. Looks like we will be coming down sooner than anticipated. We can wrap things up here about 6 weeks earlier. TV is still running the 4% special for a few more days and we are taking advantage of it. Will tentatively come down middle of February to do our house and move the beginning of May instead middle of June. I was so excited last night that I couldn't sleep. Laied awake trying to figure out what color cabinets to choose. As posted prior, I'm so confused as which to go with. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas! Did any of you lose sleep planning your home? So much to do now in a shorter amount of time. Gosh, I can't believe it's actually coming together. My mom will be in tears....

I almost don't want to think about what you are going though right now. It was so recent for us that it makes me half sick.
It was the most stressful, not serious or harmful thing I have ever gone though. Kind of like childbirth. I think I like being here with "the new baby" five times more than I had ever thought I would.
We are pulling for you Happinow. It is gonna be o.k.

You hit the nail on the head. Certainly one of the most exciting times but there's also a pit in the bottom of my stomach. I think I'll cry the whole flight to TV and feel better once I enter my new home.

We lost sleep the night before we secured the property.
We lost sleep when they told us we could get the 4% discount.
We lost sleep when we were doing the design. BTW... Easy peasy!
We lost sleep when we heard our closing date.
We lost sleep when he heard our home was sold. (sold on listing)
We lost sleep the day we ordered our golf carts.
We lost sleep when we started packing up the house/
We lost sleep every time someone sends us a picture of our new home.
We lost sleep talking to movers...
We loose sleep thinking about where we are going to put items and how we are going to decorate the new home.
We loose sleep thinking about what we are going to take or not take to our new home.
Be ready for MANY sleepless nights!!! But they are good sleepless nights!

I didn't have much time to lose sleep when we moved. Our home in Maine sold in 3 hours and the next thing I knew, we were on The Maine Turnpike, headed south in a Penske truck, hauling our car on a flatbed trailer! We DID make a flying trip down a few weeks earlier to pick out our lot and choose all of the options for the home....it was easy and fast. We never looked back after the one time I did, just as we were pulling out of the driveway on moving day. I will never forget our daughter standing there, sobbing and so sad to see us go. She moved to Ocala 2 1/2 years ago!! Two other children and the grandchildren all still live back in Maine. That is the only negative to our move to The Villages. We make the most of their visits to see us and we spend 2-3 months back there every summer. I wouldn't have changed anything about our decision. The best is yet to come and you WILL get through this time, which can be very stressful for some of us. Get on and enjoy the ride of your life!

I must admit I have crying spells just thinking about moving....like now! The tears are falling. Thanks to everyone's encouragement, I'll get though!

A good friend sent us some pics yesterday of our house that is near completion. Angie and I wake up at 3 AM and start talking about the house. The closer it gets the more sleep you loose. It reminds me of being 12 and finding out we were going to Disneyland. Couldn't sleep. Now we are going to be there in less than 8 weeks and we got to pick out everything about our home. Getting close and loosing sleep is WONDERFUL - Enjoy the anticipation and we will leave the lights on for you. :coolsmiley:

Happinow--you are just going to love it! Looking forward to having you down here and it will all wash out in the end! Good luck!
BTW--I thought I had my cabinets all picked out and I walked into one of the model homes and said, "just make the kitchen exactly like this one!" All different than I thought. Sleep tight!

Im loosing sleep again finding out 4% is back.
Really hurts for all of us that were told take the 3.5% as 4% will NEVER come back.
Really don't like hearing about it. End of discussion. I'm just Giddy!:cus:

Herve. If you heard that, I am willing to bet BIG money you didn't hear it from the sales staff. Or they might have said we don't know if it will happen again, at the worst. At least the sales people I have talked to, ours, the wonderful Jim McLaughlin and other folks stationed at open houses here and about don't push and don't make exaggerated claims, they don't have to. The houses will sell, because we the villagers go around shooting off our mouths.
We were looking for a lot for the house we just built and Jim McLaughlin told us of a number of lots in Pennecamp that had a $20,000 discount. We decided we might be interested a couple of weeks later and he said that deals gone. I asked him when something like that would come back and he said "We find out the morning the discount starts, the same time it is advertised and everyone finds out".
It comes and it goes, the discounts, we all know that here. They offer a discount at slower times of the year to keep the construction crews fully employed. They offer a discount on spec homes and lots pretty often to finish out a neighborhood.

I agree. I think the 4% comes and goes and the sales people don't know about it until they announce it at the morning sales meeting. We were offered the 4% once and had to decline as the timing wasn't right. Then, when we were ready we actually called our salesman to ask if there were any more deals and he told us yes, so it all worked out. Glad to save the $$$.

Hi! Quick question. I know that there are $20K and $10K discounts on premier and designer home closings (if you're building) on occasion. But, what are the 4% discounts? Are these on lots that TV want to move?

Hi. We are building a designer on a golf course lot and the 4% included the lot and the house. It's which ever lot you choose! Great Deal. Good luck.

Congratulations. Good move. Vera and I took advantage of the 4%. Nerves were on edge. After you sit with the design person and finalize the house cost the 4% is deducted. At this point you know exactly what your total cost is. This includes the land. Hope this helps.

Hi CarGuys,
I wish you would quit losing sleep over it. Sometimes we time the market right; sometimes we don't. Some people bought homes (anywhere U.S.A.) in '07 before the housing crash.
Do you lose sleep every time your stocks go down? Sometimes we buy low, sell high. Sometimes we're not that lucky.
Some people bought premiere homes with $20k discounts. Some didn't. Some were lucky on their timing and got the 4 percent discount. You were satisfied with what you paid or you wouldn't have bought. Why begrudge someone else for getting a 0.5 percent higher discount than you got?
Begrudging it won't change anything; and life's too short to cry over spilled milk, no?

Reminds me of the saying :
It is easier to look back and see what you should have done than to look forward and see what you need to do.
You can't beat yourself up over things that woulda, coulda, shoulda have been done differently. No?
I guess it's human nature until your aware of it happening.
