I was just thinking....wouldn't it be nice if we had an airport closer to TV? I, for one, don't like the hour trip to Orlando. A small airport would be sweet. Something a commuter plane could land in...:plane:..minus the noise!

Leesburg has a small airport on 441 up across from Babettes furniture which I think is for charter and private planes and Sanford has an airport that serves AirTran and some smaller airlines. Personally I would not want one any closer because of noise and pollution.

Agree on the noise but would be so convenient to fly in closer. Will have to look into AirTran but not sure I like that airline.

FYI - Airtran is now owned by Southwest Airlines.

Leesburg International Airport. Gary pays for the customs and TSA at the Leesburg location. Thus the INTERNATIONAL designation.

Most of the traffic in and out of Sanford is Alligient Air.

I would love to have an airport nearby. Ocala works for me. I just got back from Sanford. Ugh. I love the airport but hate that drive. Orlando is a haul, too. TV is just getting bigger. We are mobile residents and TV is rapidly becoming a "destination".
The runway in Leesburg looks pretty long. I wonder how much would be needed to bring in big jets from the major hubs a few times a day. The lack of a close airport is a drawback IMHO.

Can't have it all in paradise...!!!!! Got to give something to get something!!!!!! Try Ocala or Gainesville... I am pretty sure they both have commuter airlines servicing them..!

Travolta has a nice strip in Ocala. Can get a 727 in and out.

Exactly! I have our pilot fly us into and out of Leesburg all the time. We fly to Orlando to fill up with jet fuel though.

Leesburg

One right here in Leesburg. Looks like a med size field. Nice lights I almost taxied our rental car on to the runway instead of the Hampton.

That's what happens when delta gets you to Orlando one hour late . Ruth says I taxi well between planes

A nice two am arrival

The big airlines would charge a fortune for a ticket to Leesburg with 2 major airports so close. I know it costs more to fly to White Plains than to JFK or LaGuardia.
