Lawn/Pesticide Services

I recently purchased a patio villa and I am looking for some help and guidance on what needs to be done and how often for lawn care i.e. mowing, weeding and pruning of shrubs. How often does one need to have pesticide treatments done? I got an estimate from a company and I either I am total ignorant or they are trying to get as much out of me as they can. Can someone give me an approximation of what it should cost for a year's service for lawn care and pesticide treatments. My villa is brand new and I really don't have a lot of lawn. What companies would someone recommend?
