It definitely would make the prospect of beating Obama that much harder. Obama has a political glass jaw right now and is primed for a knockout, but Hillary might change everything. She is very popular right now. Even Republicans give her kudos for her foreign policy actions.

Bush Sr. didn't give up on Quayle.

Short of a sudden medical crisis like a heart attack or stroke or something, swapping out Biden would be viewed as weakness and an "ultimate flip-flop".

That is what the liberals said on another forum I belong to @djplong. The majority are Obama worshipers and they said why get rid of Biden? Someone even said Biden is a white centrist Blue collar Democrat and Obama should keep him. Another liberal said Biden's foreign policy expertise makes him a keeper.

I look for Biden to bow out with some expertly worded and strategically planned reason the handlers come up with and Hillary to be put on the ticket. I think Hillary increases Obama's chances of another win.

It makes total sense that D's want Hillary as V.P. so she is the "presumptive candidate" for President in 2016.

However, my diehard Dem friends say that Hillary does not want to run for Prez anymore, saying......"No......look at how old and tired she is. She's not looking like she has the energy or strength to get into that rat race all over again." (And they love her and would love to see her as Prez.)

She does seem ready to retire after this current job but who knows. All of Washington politics is FICKLE.

Some of the Democrats want Hillary to run against Obama in 2012. So it may be that Hiilary will accept an offer to run as VP with the thought she will be the 2016 front runner.

Owing to this possibility there is a lot of talk about Candi Rice as a VP nominee

Normally I don't think the person in the second slot has much effect on the election. Unless they are viewed as a dangerous choice to be one heartbeat away from the presidency. I think it could be argued that Dan Quayle and Sarah Palin cost GHW Bush a second term, and John McCain a first. I suppose Hillary could swing a few votes, but I think most will see it as a vote for or against Obama and his opponent.

There is another perspective: Clinton or others might consider being VP to Obama a liability if he should perchance get reelected ....and continue with low acceptance of the job being done....for another 4 years.

Clinton and her handlers would have to weigh the disadvantages of being a part of an administration that may not perform to expectation.

If she were not the VP she could then effectively run in 2016 against not only the Republicans but Obama as well.

I can't wait to see the foreign policy debate between Obama/Biden and Romney/Bush neo-cons, since Romney wants to undo everything President Obama has accomplished including moving troops back into Iraq. He'd probably resurrect Osama bin Laden if he could.
