I am no engineer but this Thorium Reactor seems to be a step in the right direction. Any of you retired scientist might comment on why something like this has not taken off. Here is a link to the TED (Technology, Education and Design) Talks page. These are lectures done by new and usually innovative people who get invited to these lecture forums to share information. Thanks for your interest. We could use this type of inexpensive power to replace or supplement nuclear.

it is very simple to understand why a technology like this does not take off....like all the other alternative energy options we are not pursuing, it is a function of "big oil" and the politicians in their pockets.
Just as simple as that....aided by we the people not interested enough to demand the alternatives...just as simple as that!!!

You got that right! I'm for Hydrogen fuel cells. They power some of ebay and google. There was something on television (I'm careful not to use the letters 'TV' now) in the last few months about it.
