China's debt to the US

Ok you can find this on the internet. China owes the United States citizens billions from many years ago before communist rule but they say they won't pay up. But the debt was to stand no matter what political rule. OK change your government and now I don't owe you a penny. Fast forward United States is in deep debt we all know that . So we abolish our current government form a new one and oh we don't owe anything that's not us anymore. So run the debt up and then change your government, could that be the intent of our current governing body. Life is stranger than fiction but a good novel. Think about it. You just never know what evil lurks. I didn't mention obama.

They don't have to pay in order for us to collect. All we have to do is subtract what they owe us (with interest) from what we owe them. It's ours for the taking if we want it. (This is assuming that your statement above is true.)

WE were just discussing this today at our water cooler. The USA has "forgiven" numerous countries huge debts, especially China. I say if they want their money, they can come and try to get it!

I read a similar story some 20 years back about bonds that my state (NH) still held that were debt issues from *Czarist Russia*! The story was about whether or not Russia would honor those bonds now that the USSR had fallen. It seems that they (the Russians) were looking at the credit markets at the time - needing to jump start their moribund industries and a lot of places still had the bond certificates that were, by7 then, over 80 years old.

As far as I know, the Russians never agreed to honor them.
