After extensive analysis of my personal observations, I have concluded that 50% of vehicles driven on roads in TV are defective. Can't understand why so many vehicle manufacturers, foreign and domestic, do not equip their vehicles with directional signals?

In Lexington, i really believe that turn signals are an option on all vehicles, and it seems numerous folks save a bunch on not buying that option. If you ask a resident of my town, if their turn signals actual works, many will reply ............... Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes.No.:icon_wink:

While traveling through Indiana last summer I noticed that almost EVERYONE on the interstate used their turn signal, as if it were an actual law there to use them . . . go figure!

who put them on just as they turn? Gives a whole new meaning to defensive driving. Like someone else said it is more like mind reading.

You took the words right out of my mouth jblum. I think they leave the blinker on so they won't forget to signal the next time they take a left!

And I always thought it was mostly New Jersey drivers..go figure. I attribute that to pure laziness on the driver, and probably the same people who leave the shopping carts in the parking lot - way too far to walk it back to the sidewalk or cart corrals.

Never heard this one before but I like it. A friend of mine pet peeve is the non-use of turn signals. Hard to explain exactly ,but it was mentioned to me by a race car driver to observe if their wheels are moving in your direction especially on a highway to determine if they are trying to come into your lane.
It find it hard to trust the turn signal and or driver in certain situations.
Pays to drive defensively as a driver thought nothing of testing my brakes this morning as he pulled out in front of me when I was only a few feet away He flipped me the bird like I was doing something wrong. Go figure.

Turn signals? You mean they have them here? WOW what a revelation but to save energy nobody uses them?.....
You see if they signal their intent then the other guy will turn in front to get ahead of him and be first in line at Cody's.......

I have seen several people here turn and then signal in lieu of the required 100 feet notice before turning.Hmmmmmmmmm. In this case better late than never does not apply

I agree with the observations in this post and would like to add my own observations on some different, but slightly similar occurrences.
A couple days ago in the POA bulletin there was a Q & A about joggers and the golf cart lanes vs. sidewalks. The Answer was that joggers are encouraged and expected to use the available sidewalks, rather than the street/golf cart lanes.
The very next day, while driving my cart in the cart lane, I had to come to a complete stop on two separate occasions (due to cars coming up behind me) because of joggers hogging the cart lane when there WAS a sidewalk right beside them.
While I'm in "complaint mode", last Sunday my hubby and I were out for a nice little ride down Buena Vista on his motorcycle to check out the progress on Brownwood. There were two bicyclists, on a leisurely ride, riding 2 abreast (side-by-side with plenty of space between them) in the car lane. They had to see or hear us coming up behind them, but would they move to single file....NO!
Much as I love living in TV and would never live anywhere else, we do have quite a few "entitled" people who seem to think they OWN the roadways.
OH! And then there are those on golf carts who come flying out of the tunnels, without LOOKING to the left or STOPPING, and immediately turning right onto the main cart path. Can't tell you how many near misses I've had in those instances.
PHEW! Sorry for the rant! I've been saving this frustration up for a while, can you tell?? LOL!:ohdear:

Debzaranti,
They are not cart lanes. I believe the proper name is multi-modal or multi-use lanes meaning they are for everyones use (bicycles, walkers, runners and carts). Please share.

I have always believed there is a difference in the multi-modal trail and the lanes that are adjacent to the road. I thought the multi-modal are designed for all users and the lanes adjacent to the road for golfcarts. I'm a jogger and I jog on the sidewalk, the multi-modal trail and neighborhood streets but not the lane adjacent to the road.

Blinkers on a golf cart have to be turned on. And then after the turn is completed, the blinkers have to be turned off. They don't go off automatically like a car!
Because we have a senior population, many wrinklies don't remember turning the blinker on. And because their hearing has gone, (along with memory), many don't seem to hear the blinking sound.
Therefore a lot of golf carts do have blinkers going a lot of the time, but it means absolutely nothing. (And I include myself in the Wrinklie category, so don't throw rotten tomatoes at me). :throwtomatoes:

You think they are unique to TV ?
They are ALL OVER THE PLACE !
This morning, a guy ran a stop sign, almost creamed me, then flipped me "the bird."

Regarding joggers using the cart path in the street versus the available sidewalk:
Some joggers feel that the asphalt surface is somewhat "softer" and more forgiving to the legs and joints than concrete. Not debating the validity of the concept - just saying that's what causes some joggers to not be on the sidewalk.

Hey Batman!
I'm not talking about the multi-modal paths where CARS are not allowed...I'm speaking of the public streets that happen to also have designated GOLF CART LANES....and sidewalks for joggers/walkers, etc. And I do go out of my way to share w/my fellow Villagers. :ho:

As far as I am concerned, no apology is necessary. We all have our hot buttons and sometimes feel less than perfect. Somebody didn't stop at the stop sign and cut me off and then flipped me the bird like I was in his way. Excuseeeeeeeeeeee me for breathing. :)
Remember the old saying, "it's better to be P'd off than P"d on".

Two of the things I like about TV, I do not need to waste energy using turn signals and I get to make "left" turns from the right lane.:boom:
